Posted on 06/15/2012 1:52:16 PM PDT by C19fan
Mitt Romney criticized President Obamas decision to give legal status to young adult illegal immigrants today, saying that the executive action had made it more difficult to bring about a long-term solution.
UPDATE: Its worth noting that, according to a couple of reporters, Romney was asked if he would reverse Obamas order if he was elected and didnt respond.

Well hell we may as wwell get behind Obama if Romney and Rubio are going to lick his boots for him.
I am so sick of republicans, I have about had it with this leftist party.
>> Willard = gutless.
Not disputing that, but the fact is 60% of the Republicans in Congress are thrilled that Obama took the pressure off of them and implemented by fiat what they all wanted to do themselves anyway (but feared the political repercussions).
Collectively, the entire party is a feckless bunch of self serving cowards.
I will have to vote Third Party Conservative if Romney is not going to commit to National Security, Defending our Borders, and Deporting Illegal Aliens
Our national security begins at the border
I have never seen such weak wussified politicians in this nation’s history
So I see Romney wants to lose just like Juan McCain.
He’s waiting for the opinion polls to come out. Gutless indeed.
And after he was looking like he wasn’t going to do that.
Figures. The GOP are cowards when it comes to ILLEGAL immigration. It’s ILLEGAL you idiots!
Makes you think they’d be swappin’ spit if willard wasn’t so pure doesn’t it?
What about the illegal asians? Deported?
Yeah, he has proved that time and time again.../ms
It’s amazing to me how many people have bought into the fantasy that Romney will govern from the right. Hell he will not even govern from the middle. He is a sleazy character with no real definable principles. He has no clear vision.
Hardly a surprise. I can’t think of a single issue I actually “trust” Romney on... amnesty, health-care, gay-marriage, spending, 2nd-Amendment, whatever.
The thought of Romney being our nominee still boggles my mind. Watching this election is like watching from afar a Democratic primary between a crazed Marxist and a big-government liberal-progressive. It’s impossible for me to feel remotely invested in the whole mess.
Romney played it smart.
The important thing for Romney is to keep the focus on the economy.
This was another feint by Obama to change the debate from the economy to immigration.
Obama would love for Romney to get down in the mud on the immigration/illegal alien issue so he doesn’t have to take a beating every day on the economy and unemployment.
Mitt also has a tightrope to walk to avoid losing anymore of the Hispanic vote.
Notice that he did not say he approved of Obama’s action and he did say that this is not the right way to go about solving the issue.
Stay on message and keep Obama on the defense over the economy.
We knew that it was only a matter of time b4 Mittens would find a way to sell out and lose the election.
Rubio's plan or at least one he is talking up with NBC to be broadcast on the "Sunday Morning" show.
Marco Rubio talks immigration, Dream Act, amnesty
Of his proposal Rubio said, "I think I've found significant support for it, both in my own party and hopefully with some Democrats, that allows us to address the issue of these kids in a humanitarian way, that allows us to recognize that what we want to do is give these kids a chance to get right what their parents got wrong, but not do it in a way that incentivizes people to do this in the future, and doesn't undermine our legacy as a nation of laws."
"Will your plan give amnesty?" asked O'Donnell.
"No, it's not an amnesty plan," Rubio replied. "The plan basically would award the kids who meet a certain criteria - they got here by a certain age, have lived here, graduated from high school, don't have a criminal record, want to go to college - they get what, in essence, is a student visa, and thereafter, a work visa.
"And after some period of time, probably 10 years, we would then allow them to access the immigration system just like any non-immigrant visa holder in the United States would. ... So they'd be no worse off than anybody else, but no better off, either. No special path. Just the same path as everyone else."
Romney/Rubio. Shamnesty II.
Withall due respect for Mr. Romney, this came at him pretty quick and he hasn’t had sufficient time to go to Rove and other GOP-E members to find out where he stands for now.
The infirmative-action president must know his unconstitutional action will not survive a USSC challenge, but he knows how these RINOs will respond to the idea of amnesty for illegal aliens. Obama is doing this precisely to do severe damage to Romney with the conservative base.
For a guy who otherwise appears to be the epitome of incompetence, B.O. is executing superbly this high-hard political strategy.
Obama himself said so just last year: There are enough laws on the books by congress that are very clear in terms of how we have to enforce our immigration system. That for me to simply, through executive order, ignore those congressional mandates - that would not conform with my appropriate role as president.
This is the smart thing, IMHO. To do otherwise lets Obama control the framing and gets off-message.
>> he hasnt had sufficient time to go to Rove and other GOP-E members to find out where he stands for now...
That one’s gonna leave a mark!
If the republican nominee for president does not stand against this outrage... then he and his party stand with it. It can be no other way. There is no middle ground and I know in my heart that jeb bush knew this was coming because his step brother blojob clinton told him.
He also didn't take a stand. Understanding he's a politician, that's also typical Mutt Romney.
Say the wrong thing now, Mittens and you’ve lost the base. Game over.
Not a masterstroke today by Obama but definitely a well timed torpedo hit amidships to the S.S. Myth Romney and the GOPE
No, these SOBs are just getting warmed up.
Exactly Romney was a sell out before he started selling.
Today we have finally seen the coming together as one our many tiered political system.
I see no differences in any politician in this United States today!
The one consuming fire that drives them is how can I get and keep my power and get more tomorrow.
“ God forgive them for they know not what they do”. I think that’s the way it was said.
I think Romney missed a golden opportunity to flip Obama’s amnesty for illegals gambit into an illegal abuse of power issue.
As it is, at best the Hispanic share of the total vote that Romney has a chance of winning is less than 3%, by opposing Obama’s move without having to focus on the immigration argument directly, Romney could bring out from the base and anti-illegal moderates and independents more than the portion of that 3% that he could be at risk of losing.
“Well hell we may as well get behind Obama”
NEVER. Obama is infintitely worse and far more of a threat to our republic and individual freedoms than Romney/Rubio would ever be. They may not support conservative ideals to the extent we would like, but they are not anti-American and are not going to trample on the Constitution. Four more years of Obama and this country will not be recognizable as the shining light on the hill it once was. The next election is, in a very real sense, a choice between electing a new president or coronating a dictator. Take your pick.
So would a lot of the obama supporters on this forum.
“I think Romney missed a golden opportunity to flip Obamas amnesty for illegals gambit into an illegal abuse of power issue.”
That would have been the smart thing to do.
“Hes waiting for the opinion polls to come out. Gutless indeed.’
Actually I perceive he is merely stating his strongly held beliefs. It is not gutless for a politician to hold a point of view and be consistent in articulating it. The good news is he is calling it as he sees it. Now voters can decide if they agree.
What folks need to ask themselves is what are they going to do to survive the next 4 years of Obama.
It is still possible that Obama will beat himself, but Romney sure as hell won’t take him out.
The prime directive is to boot Obama out of the White House.
There is no upside for Romney to get into a debate with Obama over illegal immigration - the upside on that issue is all for Obama.
Romney wins and Obama loses when the daily debate is about the economy and jobs.
Obama will do anything to change the debate to other issues.
Romney needs to avoid being sidetracked from pounding Obama on the economy and jobs, jobs, jobs.
He’s a peach, LOL.
It looks like Republican Rep. Steve King and maybe some others will take Obama to task on that issue.
See this thread:
Rep. Steve King To Sue Obama Administration Over New Immigration Policy
God bless Rep. King.
I don't see how this does achieves that end. Mutt didn't even say he'd overturn the order. This may well make him no different from Obama, which is the chief criticism he bears among actual conservatives.
Yes, the debate needs to center on the economy. But Romney needs to multitask. He needs to establish real differences between himself and Obama and for someone who claims to be so hawkish on immigration, this would have been a great opportunity to capitalize on an issue that generates white-hot conservative support.
Instead, he gave us the finger. Again.
If you do not agree that the economy, unemployment and jobs are the issues that will win the election for Romney, not a debate with Obama over immigration please explain your logic.
Go back and read again. They are both election winners.
RINO ROMNEY MAKES ME SICK !!!
If so, it couldn't be against a nicer guy.
Nice, safe sounding sentiment, very reassuring. Now: LOOK AT ROMNEY'S RECORD.
They may not support conservative ideals to the extent we would like ...
LOL! Ya think???????
... but they are not anti-American and are not going to trample on the Constitution.
Certainly not! Of course not! Why, hush, who could even think of such a thing?!
Well ... unless you think that forcing businesses, including adoption agencies, wedding photographers, landlords, employers, not to mention Boy Scout troops and schools, to accomodate open homosexuals, punishing them if they refuse because discriminating against homosexuals is immoral, isn't trampling on the Constitution.
Or if you think having government dictate every aspect of a person or a business or a doctor's relationships with each other, isn't trampling on the Constitution. Or if you think appointing liberal judges to distort law's intent ...
.... or developing and implementing a "carbon tax" plan to prevent global warming, and virtually create a government stranglehold of food and energy production and consumption, well ...
.... now, come on, that's not really trampling on the Constitution, is it??? Nahhhhhhh ....
(er ... don't look now, but that's Romney's record. No, it's not propaganda or distorted or misrepresented, IT IS WHAT ROMNEY IS.)
Vote for a big government statist ... get big government statism. COUNT ON IT. As certainly as you count on the mail.
It is gut-wrenching to see how many people have not yet found the courage to REFUSE TO PARTICIPATE in this charade. They are rolling over to liberalism via nothing but fear. There are people here who are on the verge of casting their vote for a guy who repels them viscerally, a guy they know is a liberal-agenda guy, if a registered Republican, a guy anyone would peg as a Democrat if they didn't know his party. They're on the verge of actively promoting him to the President of the US for basically one reason: FEAR.
Hate is also mingled in with it, and resentment, and lust for for vengeance against Obama. For THOSE THINGS -- fear, hate, resentment, vengeance -- American conservatives and patriots are on the verge of voting against their better judgment and common sense.
Talk about flashing red warning sign that they're about to make a mistake.
All because Resistance Is Useless if Obama wins again, even if Congress has moved Right and Obama is more despised than ever. RESISTANCE IS USELESS ... MUST CHOOSE ROMNEY ...
