RE:Your # 18. Would be interesting! Gov. Walker and Republicans come back in special session and move Wisconsin forward as a Right to Work State! Boy, would there be some hell raising then!

A recount is a recount — nothing more. It is not likely to change anything, except buy time. Once the ballot is in the box, there is no taking it back.

I concur with the poster above who questioned why Walker won the district and Wanggaard “lost”. That does seem odd. Were there more votes cast in the Wanggaard race than in the Walker race?

I’m also concerned about reports of pre-signed blank registration applications found in the trash. To sign a blank application is strictly against the law, and I hope whoever signed them is called in for questioning, as well as the chief inspector of that poll.

I hope the person caught voting 3 times is prosecuted to the hilt.

Same day voter registration needs to be tossed as well.

Absolutely! It's an invitation to fraud.

FOX6NOW.com has a story about Racine Co. Sheriff investing “bag of election materials.”

A summary can be found here. Also look elsewhere on this blog for more Racine election issues.

Why would a republican ever do a recount? They always favor democrats....always

Dear Norseman,

Not everything is on the web - the report was from a poll watcher during one of last week’s Mark Belling shows - it would reside on one of his podcasts - you can go listen - I have no idea which show it was.

There were heavy irregularities all through that race at the polls. The election officials are mostly Democrats, and as such, have ignored all reports, which is why there is at least one investigation going on.

Only 3 times?? What a slacker... /s

No slacker, she just picked up a new identity and went to another precinct, like many others I’m sure, where she likely voted again, and again, etc.

Wow! That’s toxic! (the report) I hope the Wanggaard folks and the Racine GOP are on top of this.

This seems pointless given the short period of office for this Senator. Just get him next election which will have voter id verification from what I understand.

All the recount will accomplish is adding up all the votes again, and overturning an 800 plus margin will be difficult.

Maybe. Senate district 21 encompasses the county of Racine, except for the towns of Waterford (population 4,048) and Burlington (population 10,464).

It's hard to compare apples to apples, because the gubernatorial election results are broken down by county, whereas the senatorial results are given by district. Conceivably, Walker beat Barrett by those 5000 votes in those two cities, but since those two cities don't belong to Senate district 21, those 5000 voters couldn't also vote for Waangard.

I wish we could see the results broken down more finely, by precinct for example, to see if there are any statistical anomalies among them.

First, let me say that while I am an engineer, I have no more intimate knowledge of the optical scanners commonly used in Wisconsin than any other voter - I have stuffed my ballot into them, and that is all. That said, assuming Racine uses optical scanners, it is conceivable that one or more of them was programmed only to tally the race for Governor, and not for Senator. Hence, it might be possible to cast an uncounted vote for Waangard. A recount would, I hope, be done with carefully calibrated and programmed optical machines, first fed a test stack to verify their operation.

#26 should read “investigating.”
