When Mitt Romney's bus tour pulls into Pennsylvania on Saturday, it will be entering a state no Republican candidate has won since George H.W. Bush in 1988. John McCain lost the state to Barack Obama by more than 10 points in 2008, and with 1 million more voters registered Democrat than Republican, it should be enemy territory for the Romney team.
But Romney will make three stops there on Saturday and this time the GOP thinks it can take the state and its 20 electoral votes. The presumptive nominee is sounding confident, telling a Philadelphia radio station this week, "We see Pennsylvania very much as being in play."

Like many, I believe that the color scheme is backwards. But that aside, I think that Obama’s unpopular economic and energy policies could cost him Pennsylvania, if Republicans play their cards right.
I’d love to see it but the commie union goons own Pennsylvania and will keep them on the plantation. You can’t fix stupid. For some reason, a lot of the illegal aliens who vamoosed out of Arizona during the communist “boycott” told the bleeding heart “news anchors” here that they were going to Pennsylvania.
Not if Rob Gleason has anything to do with it.
Too many on the dole or waiting to get on.
Combined with the dead and non-existent, and you have a Pub-proof majority.
The new Voter ID law has me optimistic. This could be closer than its ever been before to flipping.
The degenerate morons at the RNC and Congressional Republicans ought to stop letting the communist press get away with calling them "Red".
Instead they buy into it hook, line, and sinker.
It`d be a distant longshot, but Romney should at least contest it until polls show Obama consistently double-digits ahead. Ditto for Michigan.
New york serves a vital function to the Republic. It attracts the parasite class from the free states - something like a galvanic anode.
I agree. Still, Penn is fool’s gold for republicans in national elections.
Even if the Liberal Messiah holds on to Pennsylvania, He will have to spend time there that He could have spent in “swing” States.
Unless the repubs do something extraordinary, it will repeat. What??? Don't have any idea.
This illegal cra* was Florida.
Penn?? Maybe giving fracking his blessing.....
47% should be Zero's ceiling of support. I think it will be close, but barring an economic miracle of a magnitude never seen before, Romney should carry the state, and with a thin cushion over Philadelphia's usual "margin of fraud".
Tired of the permanent “Red” color assignment for our side. It’s time we demanded blue.
No Republican will ever when Pennsylvania again. NEVER. Reason is while most folks the are hard working, church going citizens who believe and support the Constitution (i.e. flag wavers, gun and Bible clingers), their numbers will never be able to offset the Marxist city of Philadelphia and amounts of fraud that go on there. The best Republicans can do is what George W Bush did in 2004 which is come within 2% of the Democrat. Pennsylvania is lost. The people there should demand Philly be given to New Jersey.
Not in 2012........there are two Liberals running.....it doesn’t matter which one wins; America loses.
If for any other reason, to make Obama and the dnc spend money, lots of it, in Pa and Mi.
“What makes you think we want it? “
You got a point, but I live in California. San Francisco, Oakland and Los Angeles ensure this state will never go to a Republican again.
In NJ, Newark and it’s surrounding areas ensure Democrats continue to carry your state. With or without Philly, it’s blue. Why not help out PA by taking Philly off their hands. It’s just a thought, LOL.
I’m willing to have CA take Las Vegas off Nevada’s hands if it will help Neva to red.
They did recently elect Pat Twomey as Senator.
There are the down-ballot races. We need to elect the most conservative candidates for the U.S. Congress as possible.
For whatever reason Penn goes blue in national elections almost all the time.
Catholics actually voted against Obama in Pa last time(according to exit polling so who knows), can’t see how he improved on that considering the HC mandate crap.
“”We see Pennsylvania very much as being in play.”
By August, New York state will be hanging in the balance for Buckwheat.
I thought the voter ID legislation passed recently will help curb some of the vote manufacturing that has gone on in past elections in Philly.
It was one of the closest Kerry states in 2004.
