This kind of thinking is ok for individual, but not for anyone in a position with power. If you are elected to an office, you are obligated to uphold the law.

That ‘comapssionate’ streak in a politician (in this case, Huckabee’s pardon of criminals) led to said criminals committing further crimes and more victims lost their lives. How do you compensate for that? Where do you draw the line?

Huckabee’s of the world do not care and did not think through the consequences of their compassionate actions, they only want to FEEL GOOD about themselves.

I have said we have the right to give as much money of our own as we please. I am the poorest man on this floor. I cannot vote for this bill, but I will give one week’s pay to the object, and, if every member of Congress will do the same, it will amount to more than the bill asks.

That first sentence is exactly what Crocket said and you opined.

No rational human being can disagree with that.
