Wisconsin has received nearly six million dollars in fees, and has incurred about $500,000 in costs for the program. About 1 in 50 of every man, woman, and child in Wisconsin now has a permit, over 111,000 people. 2,000 applications per week continue to come in. The program has been in effect since November last year, less than eight months.

Wisconsin should have added the clause that MI did, it says that the permit must be issued in X number of days or is automatically approved.

I have had a permit here in Georgia for over 15 years. It has saved me a lot of money on purchasing new guns. If you have the permit, the NCIC check is not required here. It also does not alert the NCIC that you have applied to purchase a weapon. If the government wants to know that, they have to go look at the Forms 4473 held by the sellers. And, that have to have a legal reason to do so.

“spend an additional $788,000” Contracting the work to a private company would probably decrease the cost 2/3rds.
