Echoes of "they're takin' our jobs!" But, well, maybe, true?
The Washington Post finds that a massive amnesty program for young, educated illegal immigrants will result in a massive spike in demand for jobs. In a recovering economy, this will threaten the already-lackluster employment rate for young Americans.
Steven Camarota, a researcher with the nonprofit Center for Immigration Studies in Washington, said that the Obama administration was not taking into account the new measure’s probable impact on competition for jobs at the low end of the economic scale, where chronic unemployment is highest. Among Americans with less than a high school education, he said, the jobless rate is 13 percent.“It doesn’t seem the administration is considering the cascading consequences,” Camarota said. “What does this mean for unemployed Americans who will be competing for jobs with a million-plus people who can now apply for work authorization? Is this really a good idea?”
This all seems pretty obvious but, apparently, it's deserving of a Washington Post report. If you think that America's immigration laws are immoral [pdf], this shouldn't make a difference. But if you're concerned about protecting America's jobs for people who are already Americans, the cost-benefit of legalizing vast swathes of illegal immigrants might be something to take into account.
The White House hatched this immigration controversy to distract the media and the public away from the national security leaks controversy.

Illegals consume more in social benefits (Welfare, housing, medical, child care) than they contribute to society. And since many of them have no documentation - they work for cash and do not pay taxes on what they do earn, thus getting additional benefits from our Welfare funds - as they technically have zero income.
Meanwhile, we have unemployment of actual US citizens who want a job, own houses and actually pay taxes.

The gambit on Friday (on illegal aliens) fits a pattern--just like with the free birth control mandate and the gay marriage "evolution"--something to fire up enthusiasm from his base and get the talking heads in the media raving about how brilliant Obama is and how awful the Republicans are. Will it actually improve Obama's ratings? That remains to be seen--those most supportive of his latest move were his supporters already.

Why are we subsidizing non US citizens’ college tuition when our own American students have $1 trillion in loan debt?

I don’t think the “Dreamers” will sign up in any great numbers since they will be admitting that their parents are coyotes and subject to deportation themselves.
There will be some secret sauce added, probably adjusting for "all" 800,000 entering the work force at once. The rate will probably go down, just watch the real rate will be obscured.
Those of working age will have to also be added to the unemployed - as employment was a major factor in changing the rule.
Even if the rate goes up Obama will say it is because of his good deed and the press will applaud his heroism. Watch that the "Dreamers" with existing jobs are added to the numbers first. The "Dreamers" that are unemployed now are probably not eligible for UI since they have never legally worked so won't be in the numbers at all.
These illegal aliens (and the hoards that follow) will be taking union government jobs from union households by the skillions (affirmative action will see to that).
The illegal aliens will be taking college acceptances (and classes and law school slots) away from liberal families.
The illegal aliens will be taking (more) welfare and social services from welfare rats.
And, none of them, none of them see it coming.

Plus the quasi-legal illegals are now eligible to take advantage of affirmative action preferences ahead of American citizens who don't belonged to any "protected class" (i.e., white males).
Legalization of a class of illegals means far more illegals in the near future, especially kids below the age of 31, and after a little while, maybe a couple of months, a whole lot more “legal” Democrat voters as the administration grants them Sudden Citizenship.
Obama's plan says ....illegals will be "immune from deportation" if they have "no criminal history...."

In 2005, the pay outs totaled $924 million. This program allows low income earners to claim a $1,000 per child credit.

Police said that on one of the forged W-2 forms had a SS no of a person living in Virginia. Police said illegal Hispanics purchase fictitious W-2 forms and file false tax returns with the government to receive EITC refunds. Baca was charged with one count of ID theft and two counts of forgery.

July 21, 2006----NJ BERGEN RECORD---Pelcastre brothers, Angel and Jorge, Dallas, Texas, were a walking threat to US national security, expert document forgers who, for a few thousand dollars, could give anyone a new identity, NJ L/E authorities said. The Texas brothers were a "one-stop shop" for a myriad of fake US documents, including birth certificates, Social Security cards, driver's licenses----for any state in the US------ passports and resident alien cards, said state police.
The Texas brothers turned a NJ hotel room into a business office and were readying a massive cache of fake Social Security cards for delivery to a local NJ identity broker. Officers happened upon two cars bearing Texas plates in a NJ hotel parking lot. The Texas brothers were followed to a NJ office supply store nearby where they purchased computer supplies. Officers then followed the Texans to a NJ storage facility in Secaucus, NJ, where the Texans loaded several boxes into a car. One of them stood lookout.
After a search, police recovered laminating sheets with built-in security features, pages of blank documents waiting for fake names and information, finished documents, computers and software to create the fake IDs.
All told, the haul was worth about $500,000 on the street when sold to "impoverished illegals." Police also recovered $6,000 in cash, which was the first payment from a NJ fake document broker for a shipment of 500 phony Social Security cards.
