It was huge when Russia decided to move its Fleet intothe Med several years ago.

Now they are using that fleet to prtoject power in the face of Obama’s weakness in the region.

Putin wins.

Obama loses.

There goes the “Arab Spring” Buahahahahahaha!

The Russians are about to displace any US influence in Egypt, Libya,Syria and Iran.

Thank you so called President Obama. Thank you for THAT hope and Change.

Pastor, do not know why yet am not worried. Guess my dream (or thought) of Jesus waving the Star and Stripes (Israeli flag) keeps me from going insane.

Russia has a naval base in Syria.

Correct. Russia sends warships to Syria all the time. Syria is an ally.

Obama seems very displeased with Puttie...So,I am conflicted

I know how you feel. I was rooting for Col Kadaffi in Libya against my own country a few months ago.

Does China have a base in Syria as well?

We should send a couple of carrier groups to the area. Create a false flag event to get things rolling, sink their ships in ‘retaliation’, and use tactical nukes against their bases in Syria. It would restart the Cold War, boost the economy, and unite a majority of the country in a common purpose with “Communism” as the enemy.

/partial sarc (that WOULD be a little interesting/fun to watch)

Hmmm, in light of the Russian cargo vessel stopped near Scotland today (which was carryion MIL attack helicopters to Syria), I wonder if Putin is engineering a way for the boy king to look "Presidential," amd like a great "Leader."

Let's watch and see.

"It’s a perfectly good opportunity to butt out. Let the Russians have it..."

Agree, we don't need anymore lives, limbs, or treasure spent on these unappreciative tribal barbarians. Let Russia have Syria. What is the down side?

"The Russians are about to displace any US influence in Egypt, Libya,Syria and Iran." Other than Iran, I have no problem with the rest. Let Russia own the, rather than the Islamis cult being uncontrolled. I'm figuring Russia as learn some lessons with its Aftganiscrap situation.

The one thing I learned while being a "cold war" sailor is that Russians (and past Soviets) actually care about there children. That's why MAD worked so well. The Islamists live to die and take their women and children with them. If Russia can stall the 7th century madness of 21st high-tech ability, I say let them, so as not on our dime.

If given open season, I believe Russia will put Iran down, commerce or not. As for China, they won't align with Russia to attack the US, we owe them too much. That's a paranoid falsehood. The world is too economically entertwined. It's all chess, and I see Russia about to check the middle east. Better they die, then our children.

And if Russia or China gets too uppity and powerful, here is a warm thought for you...always think Trident! They are out there an no one knows where, unless Obama wants to "leak" their locations, but then they simply move according the Joint Chiefs. They alone could blow much of the world away. MAD is still the best game in town except for Islamist crazies. Again, let Russia deal with them. I don't want to see one more coffin or prosthetics on our children.

Do you truly think we owe the Chinese so much that the possibility of obtaining all US natural resources through an attack is off the table. We have so many assets that I cannot imagine Russia and China not considering it. Seems to be a ripe time to attempt to conquer America... We are divided, broke, militarily weakened. I think our natural resources AND making yourself top global dog, far outweigh any debts we owe China. Russia, China and Iran are not certainly sitting around the table simply discussing Syria.

I agree with you, assuming that the Russians will stay neatly in that box you describe. IMHO eventually they will control almost all of Europes energy resources and start pulling those chains, which is what this is ALL really about( that is not in the box you described).

Are all those “Russian citizens” they’re so concerned about, by any chance employees of independent security contractors?

I smell Gog and Magog coming together very well with the Russian, Syria and Iran coming together in a military alliance. China chomping at the bit to cross the dried up river with the army of 200 million. You can almost hear the footsteps of Jesus. He is right at the door.

zer0 is going to be even more displeased when Russia reinforces Syria with enough firepower to make the whole world sit up and take notice. Pootie-poot has had four whole years to manufacture, plan, train, prepare. I thought from the beginning that someone somewhere was going to take advantage of American weakness and ineptitude to redraw some international borders. If I’m right, Russjie is going to come down hard, as in with an iron boot, in the ME and say... deal me in.

Not just the Kurdish area but remember the Golan Heights also. The Israelis haven’t annexed it yet but I expect they will if there is a big disruption in Syrian gov’t. But since the Russians lost Ukraine they don’t have their big Black Sea base either——their base in Syria is extremely valuable to them and protecting it against Syrian changes explains most of their actions to this point. Not to mention the money Asshat owes Putin. Ivan is getting sick of arabs welching on their arms debts no doubt.

There are Syrian refugee camps on every border. It wouldn’t be surprising at all if Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, Iraq AND Israel all decided to take a piece of Syria——in memory of Attaturk, of course.

Capable bunch no doubt but this time they don’t have an endless supply of American aluminum, locomotives, or Studebaker trucks.
