Holder agrees to meet with Issa
The Hill ^ | June 18, 2012 | Jordy Yager

Attorney General Eric Holder agreed to meet with Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) on Tuesday as part of his attempt to stave off a vote to hold him in contempt of Congress.

In a letter to the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee sent on Monday, Holder proposed the meeting in order to discuss the role of the Justice Department in the botched gun-tracking operation, Fast and Furious.

He also suggested having Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), the ranking member of Issa’s panel, and Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, attend the 11 a.m. meeting.

It is expected that Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee who first raised the controversial issue of gun-walking in Fast and Furious to Congress, will also attend. The location of the meeting hasn't been released.

So Issa will have less than a day to decide if Holder has sufficiently complied with the demand from Congress or is in Contempt of Congress?

LOL

How in TF will that be accomplished?

Hopefully Issa and Grassley will bring plenty of toilet paper with them to the meeting because they will be dealing with three of the biggest assholes in Congress and Govt - Holder, Cummings and Reid.

Sorta of like a Roto Rotor crew going into a clogged up cesspool, yelling “We’re gonna need a bigger rotor machine!”

Why? So he can get his latest soundbite out to the media??

Issa is playing politics; those that support that are no better than "party" hardliners (party before country).
Members of both parties (past and present) need to go down hard and be accountable for the mess the United States is in.

Never happen however, DC is corrupted to the core.

I figure they’re going to show what dirt they have on each other and come up with an acceptable compromise.

Why agree to meet with him? He’s appeared a number of times. He knows what is required of him to comply.

Now we have more private talks.

This is absurd.

The only purpose of a private meeting is to withhold information from the public.

Perhaps Holder thinks he can continue to lie while not under oath to the panel?

What a crock.

Don't meet with him unless he is under oath in front of your committee.

But haven't we been told ad infinitum by the MSM that the American people are tired of gridlock and demand compromise and bipartisanship in congress?

Isn’t that the truth. Holder is bringing two of the biggest pieces of garbage in the Congress in with him.
I would guess the threats from them will come fast and furious.

The headline makes it sound like Issa requested the meeting, but from what I have heard he gave Holder until Tuesday to come up with all the requested docments. The story seems to indicate Holder requested the meeting and wants to take an entourage of Democrat defenders with him. Issa should simply tell him to stick his letter and comply.

Issa to Holder: You have until Tuesday a.m. to give up Fast and Furious docs

“In a letter to Issa earlier in the day, Holder asked to meet at 11 a.m. Issa responded that the meeting will take place at 5 p.m. — only after his committee staff can review the promised Fast and Furious documents.”

What am I missing here? The headline is that Holder has agreed to meet with Issa which makes this sound to the passing headline reader as though he’s some sort of a benevolent allowing his subject Issa an audience.

Bullsnork!

Exactly! I’m glad you pointed that out. ;^)

Seriously, I do agree with you. The other day they were proud they hadn’t let him corner them into a private meeting. Now they’re doing it.

It’s almost impossible to follow the Republican position on these things and get behind it.
