Allen’s statement was probably correct, but technically those 80 are socialists. They belong to the Democrat Socialists of America. Maybe some belong to the Communist Party USA but West was probably basing his comments on the DSA memberships.

In a (rather cynical) way, I am heartened to learn of Bill Maher’s most recent outburst. Those who have attempted to portray him as an equal-opportunity curmudgeon, just as happy to slam Democrats as he is to bash Republicans, may find this one especially hard to explain...
