I am pretty sure that even if UT were sick of Hatch it wouldn’t support someone with such an unusual surname, though occassionally such names are not a liability. People are so conventional that they prefer stick with their familiar (liberal) names.

I used to think that about Illinois voters given the lopsided number of guys with easy-to-pronounce Irish-sounding last names in office, but then Illinois' elected Rod R. Blagojevich, Barack Hussein Obama, Alexi Giannoulias (for state treasurer, anyway) and Rahm Emanuel. Liljenquist has problems that go beyond his surname.
