WashTimes: Sen. Grassley: Assertion of Executive Privilege Raises ‘Monumental Questions’

Bryan Preston

..... “The assertion of executive privilege raises monumental questions,” said Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa, ranking Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee who first began the Fast and Furious investigation.

“How can the president assert executive privilege if there was no White House involvement? How can the president exert executive privilege over documents he’s supposedly never seen? Is something very big being hidden to go to this extreme? The contempt citation is an important procedural mechanism in our system of checks and balances,” he said. ..........

The timing of this is perfect. We want this issue to be front and center for the election and too late for the Rats to dump Obama and nominate someone else.

This is simply a high stakes stalling tactic..

By claiming executive privilege they extend the game until the election...

The fact executive privilege is baseless and has no authority to be used is meaningless to these two asshats

Issa has done a great job and I don't think he's going to give up now.

I agree Issa has done a great job. Despite having been chairman for only 1 1/2 years (Grassley has been in the minority for the entire time) he has doggedly pursued this to the point the President has been forced to invoke executive privilege. True, there are some who don't understand the separation of powers concept and think Issa should be able to act arbitrarily, but all factors considered, he has done about as well as anyone could reasonably expect.

Yep, old Joe Bite Me is a funny guy even when his foot isn’t in mouth. :-)

The scary thing is he sitting in the number 2 seat.

And, your metric(s) and timeframes as posited are?

I have none, although I expect Holder to be gone rather soon. You see, I hold out hope that our system of checks and balances can still work. If I'm wrong, then that's truly sad for our republic. What I will not do is wallow in defeatism, I'll leave that to others.

And he's probably clean on F&F! He doesn't know anything about anything because they don't tell him anything! LOL!

Well said and agree completely.

There's a good chance Holder will go down and after all he's pulled since becoming AG it's well deserved. He's a most corrupt AG and probably is reflecting the actions of his boss who's more corrupt, IMO.

I’ve no doubt at all you’re right, they can’t tell him anything they don’t want repeated. LOL!

I like that graphic, it’s prophetic. :-)

This is simply a high stakes stalling tactic..

If so it is a dumb one..

IMHO and I am no legal scholar, but doesn't Issa have "Standing" to take this to the Supreme's because they have ruled unless it direct communication it is not covered?

So if it isn't and he ask them to review, How can they not say NO?????

Love to see the Supreme's beeotch slap him again like he was pulling a Nixon...

Are you watching the Issa hearing on C-Span? Looks like they’ll be coming back on in about 5 minutes...

Check again in a day or so. They’re already talking about bringing the “MIRT” — the Malicious Intruder Response Team — to put the thread back into full DUmp lock-step compliance.

Also note the low “post” count of the not-so-DUmmies — they are almost certainly akin to LOUSY FREEPER TROLLS.

Exactly! I’m really liking the way Issa is handling this.

Obama and Holder have to be “as nervous as two long-tailed cats in a room full of rocking chairs”.

What you’re seeing right now is a replay of earlier testimony. That will go on for at least another hour.

Obama is in this up to his floppy ears.

Yep. This is the "under the radar" gun control he was talking about.

I’ve been checking C-Span but the House is doing business.

Fox News just showed a bit of the hearing and said they’d be back to it in a while.
