Mitt Romney, who has been evasive about whether he would reverse the President Obamas executive order allowing young adults who were brought here illegally as children to be given legal status, will address the issue today in his speech to the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO).
Some people have asked if I will let stand the Presidents executive action, Romney will say, according to the prepared remarks sent out by his campaign. The answer is that I will put in place my own long-term solution that will replace and supersede the Presidents temporary measure. As President, I wont settle for a stop-gap measure. I will work with Republicans and Democrats to find a long-term solution. I will prioritize measures that strengthen legal immigration and make it easier. And I will address the problem of illegal immigration in a civil but resolute manner.

Why are all our politicians such chickensh*ts? Afraid of the “r” word? They’re gonna get it anyway if they are Republican — worse if they are Conservative.
Why can’t McRomeny just say he’ll follow our existing laws? Oh, and that he’ll revoke all unconstitutional EO’s made by Bamster...that would be a great “response” to these fools.
Didn’t they promise to seal the border after the last amnesty? And the one before that?
Full deportation of as many illegal immigrants as is humanly possible hasn’t, even, been tried yet, if it, ever, is going to be tried sometime in the future! The majority of people in the U.S. legally are against amnesty for illegal immigrants, and they have been against amnesty for illegal immigrants for a very long time! Finally, ending amnesty for illegal immigrants would make all politicians against amnesty very popular among everybody in the U.S. legally, and this is a missed opportunity by anti-amnesty politicians to, greatly, increase their reputation numbers and favorability numbers. A country can’t survive with one set of rules for illegal immigrants and another set of rules for everybody else!
My solution; You come here legally you have five years to become a citizen. To become a citizen you must know our history, understand our government and how it is different from others and demonstrate that you can read write and speak English at the ninth grade level or better. Failure to do so will have you returning to your country of origin. NO EXCEPTIONS.
My solution; The fourteenth amendment where it pertains to citizenship addressed only the children of those who had formerly been slaves in this nation. The citizenship of a child born on US soil of parents who are neither citizens nor here legally is determined as being the same as the citizenship of the father. The child will not be a dual citizen.
My solution; If you where brought to this nation as a minor by your parents entering illegally. Gather all documentation of your time here. High school diploma/transcripts, work history, college documents if any, recommendations ETC. Go to the country of origin of your father. Report to the US embassy, fill out necessary paper work, undergo background check, demonstrate knowledge of US history and read write and speak English at ninth grade level or better. Having satisfied those requirements be issued a green card and return to the States. Will be proscribed from ever sponsoring a family member for entry to the US.
Foreign specialists are not cheap. If a company invites them on an H1B status, they are obligated to pay them no less than the industry average.
BS for the simple reason that the mere ability to import H-B1s leads to lower wages and there was that video expose about a law firm explaining to companies how can cheat to be allowed to bring in H-B1s.

This is not your solution, this is the existing law amd procedure.
So just SWELL, Willard! Especially that part about “working with Democrats.” Yeah, I just love that!
So just = Sounds just
No BS. I am talking about the existing law, you counter by talking about breaking the law. If companies cheat and law firms couch them how to cheat, they break the law and should be punished to the full extent of the law, like any other criminals. The cheats compromise the idea and give fodder to populist rants.
This is not your solution, this is the existing law and procedure.
There are those who come here in their twenties and spend the rest of their life with a green card. A few never learn English.
If they can not attain citizenship in five or fewer years then get the L out. We don’t need any more dummies. We have enough Democrats.
Can't believe THIS guy is going to be our nominee. You would have thought that after see what the disaster Obama has been that at least Republicans would have chosen better.
So you mean like revoke the Green Card if you do not apply for citizenship after 5 years? Maybe. I am not sure. I, for one, cannot wait till I can apply for US citizenship in 6 month’s time. I and my family entered and stayed in the country legally, paid taxes, contributed to social security, medicare and medicaid, paid medical and education bills. We went through immigration process hell and finally received the GC. There is a 5 year waiting period after that, which is coming to an end. When I apply for citizenship, I have to demonstrate knowledge of the US history, government system and the English language, and say Pledge of Alegience. I can’t wait, and I don’t care about the others.
Romney is a nominal Republican but he wants very much to change the voting pattern in the USA to permanently give the Democrats a large voting majority. All the establishment Republicans seem avid to make this a One Party Socialist State with the Democrats being the One Party. These guys are simply too bright to not understand that that is the effect of Amnesty. And Amnesty does NOT simply make eventual(or instant)voters out of all the illegals currently in residence. It essentially grants the vote to any Latinos who come across the border and opens the flood gates to them. The only thing that will slow the flood is permanent depression in the USA which this sort of policy ultimately promotes so in a sense it is self correcting but when it has corrected this will already be a totalitarian socialist state run by a small mostly Europoid white nomenklatura and the rest of the population will be sliding to subsistence level or below(famine and suchlike).
Romney sees those horrible EOs and says hmmm having them in place might be useful to me. He won’t revoke the EOs. It wouldn’t help him to get elected because the voting population think nothing of something so esoteric as Executive Orders and most don’t know or care about the ramifications.
Welcome aboard. I am of the opinion that when one enters this country legally, they should become a citizen within five years or return to their country of origin. I don’t agree with the five year waiting period. Someone who wants that citizenship bad and studies hard should be allowed to take the test in as little as six months.
And again WELCOME!!
I can already hear the calls for Impeachment of........... Romney! The new Bastid will be better but still a Bastid!
The guys on H1B at least are complying with existing law. Then they discover if they want to pursue green cards and stay legally they have a bunch of illegal Mexicans jumping in line ahead of them.
...for example...this Work Authorization that Obama just handed to the illegal “dreamers”...an H1B would have to wait 6-7 years and spend about $12,000 in legal and filing fees to reach an equivalent status.
Verily! There cannot be two sets of rules, one for those who abide by the law, and another one for those who don’t. BTW, there are no breaks or slacks for those who are here legally. E.g., when we came to the States, my son was 10. The immigration process went for so long that my son was about to age out and lose the right to continue applying for the GC as a member of H1B family. And my lawyer said there is no exception. We would have had to leave the country. We would have lost everything.
