I agree that if it goes lower and stays there, the DOW is an issue.
I feel the same way, kind of a shame we have Romney. But I’ll still take him over hussein.
Campaign Report; Gallup Poll Shows Carter Leads Reagan, 49 to 41%
Results; Reagan 489 Electoral, Carter 49.
There is plenty of time for that BEFORE the convention.
While some of the delegates are required to vote for romney in the first round, IF THEY VOTE. They DO have the option to abstain.
So, to say “we have what we have” is misleading. You are comfortable with nominating a socialist to “lead” the republican party. You are comfortable with increasing the power of the progressives in the GOP.
Romney doesn’t have to be an inevitability. The destruction of the GOP as the last form of opposition to socialism doesn’t have to be an inevitability.
But Ill tell you at least ONE thing that is inevitable, If the GOP nominates a socialist as its candidate for president I (and plenty of others who used to be the base of the gop) WILL work against your candidate during the general election. Because, if we are doomed to have a socialist president I would rather take the opportunity to DENY the socialists control over the GOP as well...
This isnt D -vs- R. This is WE -vs- Socialists.
You really dont like romney? OK, prove it... call for a brokered convention so we can choose a candidate we will ALL support. To do otherwise is to prove your just a RINO romneybot or woefully ignorant of the enemy and the battlefield.
I lurked at Daily Kos. Even they don't believe that poll.
If Obama is Toast , I think its a tragedy for the GOP to nominate a socialist as its candidate and once again snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
F... Im waiting for Bill Clinton to declare that he now feels comfortable becoming a republican. Which, of course, says more about the death of the GOP as opposition to socialism than it says about any Clinton conversion.
I agree though... The rates are down (sort of) lets kick them with an anti-socialist candidate through a brokered convention.
oops.. rates = rats
friggen inline spell check...
Public polling was far more corrupt and agenda-driven then than it is now.
The polls showing Carter ahead were leftist lies attempting to limit the damage down-ballot.
I wish FR had an ignore function.
Yes, that is the floor.
This is your (deranged) opinion and you are entitled to it.
My only objection is to the fact that you tell so many psychotic lies in furtherance of your pro-Obama agenda.
If you and the other members of the FR He-Man Mitt Haters Club simply told the truth, I'd leave you all to your demented business.
Praying for similar results.
and yet in another poll he has a double-digit lead over Romney?
These pollsters are smoking something...
Yes, clearly this Gallup poll is an outlier!
I saw reports on this a few months ago. I’d buy one in a heartbeat but I think the ATF is going to deny the simultaneous shot version and classify it as automatic.
If there really is a dual trigger option, I don’t see a way that can keep a live round from being ejected when the fired round casing is ejected....seems to be a problem that would complicate the hell out of things.
It either goes simultaneous, accepted by ATF, or it goes Auto classification and sales will be very small.
Actually I am an ABO Palin-bot. Unfortunately, my candidate isn't interested.
How does one "call for a brokered convention"? I don't have a clue, so please inform me.
Must be that “margin of error” thing that I’ve heard about.
Adults. Not registered voters. Not likely voters. That makes this result even worse for B.O. than the 43% would indicate!
Kool-Aid. They're smoking (the) Kool-Aid.
REally? Kick them in the nuts? Really?
You think they have nuts?
Shouldn’t there be a decimal in there somewhere?
Beware the “comeback kid” narrative being sewn before our eyes.
Maybe we do? Thirty-two years ago voters had only Reagan's record as Governor of a liberal state to try and predict how he'd lead and this record was from from the stalwart conservative that Reagan became after he was elected President.
If this website existed in June of 1980, people here would be calling Reagan a pro-abortion RINO based on his governance of California.
I agree Gaffer... the die hard Dems and the gov’t teat clingers will always support the turd.
“Gallup Editor-in-Chief Frank Newport reveals that while President Obama’s May approval rating is better than some of his predecessors who lost their re-election bids, it is worse than many who won a second term — suggesting a tight race this November.”
Gosh you almost need a flow chart to figure his statement out.
Yes, clearly this Gallup poll is an outlier.
Obama is in for quite and “unexpected” surprise in November.
Fast forward to about 4 years ago. I remember talking to my cousin out in Fayettenam about military morale. It wasn’t very good, with the endless deployments and consequences of the Clinton drawdown. And looking forward to what would happen if PBO got elected—knowing those were the good old days compared to what was to come and it wasn’t that good.
I think the Democrats are going to have to boost him out if they have a chance of winning. They are reaching critical mass where even cheating will not be enough win the race. look for something “Dramatic” to happen. I put nothing past them! They are as corrupt as a gang of Mafia Bosses. Maybe with less ethics. All the pandering hasn’t stopped the falling off of support. He is doomed unless something happens. That window is rapidly closing. They were hoping Mitt would be seen as a Rich 1% man —out of touch with people—a guy they could turn into a pinata like John McCain. He hasn’t played along with them. They thought they could use his Mormonism to stop him only to discover most Americans are more tolerant than they imagined. Obama has proven weak and inexperienced—his many mistakes are coming back like—evil chickens —to roost on him. I believe they will try to cancel the election (Obama might do it) he may have to be blasted out of the White House by tanks.
Lots of things going to happen in the next five months!
I was implying that you were looking to kick them somewhere that doesn’t exist.
Yeah, I got that. Still kick them in the groinal area. :-0
Thank you for your service, hattend. You’re a hero.,
I’m ABMR and pine for Reagan.
with a margin of error of + 10/-0
George HW Bush was pretty much forced on to the Reagan ticket to alleviate some of those concerns. (I still say the biggest mistake that Reagan ever made was to accept Bush as his running mate. It was a decision that has adversely affected the conservative movement for the past 30 years.)
But getting back to Reagan, he was not projected for greatness when he was on the campaign trail in 1980. Republicans were basically hoping that he could pull out a victory in November, lest we be saddled with another four years of Jimmy Carter.
Reagan would go on to surprise us all but remember that it wasn't really until around the end of 1982 that the "Reagan Revolution" launched our economy on a rocket ride that would carry us higher and higher for the next two decades. And it would take nearly a decade for the Soviet Union to crumble, but crumble it did and Reagan's presidency was directly responsible for that as well.
Mitt Romney has similar potential to surprise us. Not saying it will happen but the potential is there. Once he is elected, Romney will have two choices. He can continue in the RINO vein that he showed us in Massachusetts. If that is the case, he'll just be another hapless, ineffective, affable placeholder who will hand the White House back to a Democrat in four years (as the first Bush did).
OR...he can reinvent himself and govern as a strong conservative. In other words, be more like he was at Bain Capital and less what he was like as Massachusetts governor.
Let's put it this way. If we increase our hold on the House this November, capture the senate and capture additional governorships by way of a massive GOP landslide, than what motive would Mitt Romney have to govern as a RINO?
You are Mitt Romney and you've just won the presidency along with nearly unprecedented power as a result of your party having majorities in both the House and Senate. What would you do? Wouldn't you want to make some history by using your power to effect a conservative revolution not seen since the early days of Reagan? Serious question.
If you look at Mitt Romney's history, he has always been an opportunist. He has a history of adapting himself to the environment he is in. In Massachusetts, he had to show his RINO side just to survive. But survive he did and just so you know, it is no easy task to win a statewide election in Massachusetts as a Republican. But he did it.
I'm just saying - if he gets elected and he has a conservative legislature behind him - prepare to be surprised.
They're all voting Republican this year because of the bad economy. Pus they'll wait for Williard to give them anmesty with congressional approval.
Good point. See my post #86 - I extended on your remarks.

Yep, perfectly plausible.
It also helped that the Germans had already lost over 3 million men killed in action on the Russian front when we invaded Normandy.
Ha! Actually, I'm a meteorologist.
But, thank you! Military Service was my pleasure.
The FedEx delivery driver happened to be there at the time, he voted for Romney.
Hey, I resemble that remark. You want truth? Here's some truth for you:
Mitt Romneys Dismal Record
"As U.S. real output grew 13 percent between 2002 and 2006, Massachusetts trailed at 9 percent.
* Manufacturing employment fell 7 percent nationwide those years, but sank 14 percent under Romney, placing Massachusetts 48th among the states.
* Between fall 2003 and autumn 2006, U.S. job growth averaged 5.4 percent, nearly three times Massachusetts' anemic 1.9 percent pace.
* While 8 million Americans over age 16 found work between 2002 and 2006, the number of employed Massachusetts residents actually declined by 8,500 during those years.
"Massachusetts was the only state to have failed to post any gain in its pool of employed residents," professors Sum and McLaughlin concluded.
In an April 2003 meeting with the Massachusetts congressional delegation in Washington, Romney failed to endorse President Bush's $726 billion tax-cut proposal."

The Kenyan’s approval in the parasite and minority communities remains at 113%.
Obama is still 13 points ahead in the Reuters (bunch of crap) National Presidential poll today!
Good! I love seeing the opposing team have a false sense of security. Carter led Reagan going into the final week of the Campaign and he conceded before the polls even closed in California.
Well, the “Suck up to the Mexicans” strategy has not worked. Polls show that in the Latino Community, the “enthusiasm” for Obama did not change since his announcement last Friday. But, not to worry, they’ve got other schemes up their sleeve. The voter registration drive at the cemeteries is just getting underway. I like what another FReeper said: “My parents voted Republican their entire lives. Then, when they died, they started voting Democrat.”
Hey, I resemble that remark.
That is so cheesy and so ‘60s.
I know ;-)
