The Supreme Court is expected to rule on the constitutionality of President Barack Obama's health care law within the next week, and House Speaker John Boehner has issued a pre-emptive warning to fellow House Republicans if parts of the law are struck down: Forget about celebrating.
In a memo sent to his entire caucus Friday, Boehner warned members not to gloat over what most Republicans would see as a victory.
"[I]f the Court strikes down all or part of the president's health care law, there will be no spiking of the ball," Boehner wrote in the memo. "Republicans are focused on the economyand under President Obama's policies, our economy is struggling. We will not celebrate at a time when millions of our fellow Americans remain out of work, the national debt has exceeded the size of our nation's economy, health costs continue to rise, and small businesses are struggling to hire."

>>> So it doesn’t have anything to do with the voters?
Don’t get your point about ObamaCare rammed down our thoat.
>>> And we shouldn’t encourage politicians to be responsible when they can be?
Still don’t see responsible politicians (or very few) in DC. Boehner ain’t one of them.
I’ll be too busy watching and enjoying all of the crying and gnashing of teeth that will be on display from the socialists.
Just let the liberals spike the ball... over and over and over again... it’s much more fun and lasts longer.
Yes. I noticed it. I also noticed him glaring at the black child who got in the way of the camera and threatened to steal a second or two from his big f’n moment.
I agree. Just defund the whole thing in one fell swoop.
Only problem with that is Obama will show Americans how he saved 1 trillion dollars and saved Medicare at the same time.
And the media will bleat, “Ohhhhbahhhhmahhhhh”
I think “boehnless” in the sense that a truck of Viagra couldn’t cure . . .
If the Act is struck down it is a great victory for liberty!
Get this guy out of there!
Pubbies won’t spike the football.
Lucy [Dems] will steal the football.
Charlie Browns [Pubbies] will end up on their keisters — again.
SCREW YOU BOEHNER, YOU FECKLESS WIMP!
We should not only spike the ball but we should ram it down Obastard, his Commieczars, and the Demoncrat's rat bastard throats for putting America through this agony, disregarding the will of the American People, and crapping on the Constitution!
This should be an object lesson to tyrants who try and put us into their shackles - not a "let's all get along" moment! Gad, I detest these RINOs!!
Voters elected Democrats. The Republicans all could have been wonderful saints and it wouldn't have made any difference.
Of course politicians are more corrupt than other people -- they have more temptations -- but in some ways they reflect the people who elect them. In terms of character we aren't the country we once were, and politicians reflect that.
Still dont see responsible politicians (or very few) in DC. Boehner aint one of them.
Context matters -- what you compare with what. Politicians fall short of what we'd like them to be, so we complain about them on the Internet. If they behaved like people do on the Internet, they'd be even worse, and we'd have more to complain about. Politicians may be timid, but if they had anonymity and could say anything they wanted to without being held accountable for it, it wouldn't make things better.
That’s one of Boehner’s characteristic problems:
he doesn’t like the spiking of the ball.
You know, “decorum” and all that.....must appear
, uh, “mature”.
Can’t spike the ball because then we’d have to
explain WHY we’re spiking the ball.
Apparently he doesn’t have the energy or intellectual
wherewithal to do that.
We can’t afford a ball to spike. If this Obamacare crap is tossed out in total, we’ll have spent untold billions to no return. If only the mandate is tossed out or it’s upheld, trillions have been committed and even more will be spent in the future. Let’s face it, both parties will try and “fix” this crap.
LOL@ that fool.
I want a full blown ticker tape parade in every city in America.
Why WOULDN’T one “spike the ball” upon the winning of a great battle? Make no mistake, this is Guadalcanal, Midway, D-Day, the Battle of the Bulge and Iwo Jima wrapped up in one package - either we win this one, or government will have NO limits on its authority.
And can we get rid of this nutless wonder next term, please?
Assuming this POS gets reelected (and R’s hold the House), can we please get a new speaker next year?
“Ill file this under why I dont vote for Republicans anymore.”
Pretty flimsy reason—unless you’re a closet Dem, of course.
Yeah! We wouldnt want to gloat over the Supremes upholding the Constitution!
Just felt like that statement bore repeating. Thanks. That says it all.
spike obama’s, pelosi’s and reid’s heads.
Spike early, spike often.
I,ll spike that ball.
