Did You Know the Solo Cup is also a Measuring Cup (for Booze)?

UPDATE: A Solo rep has reached out and provided us with a new graphic. Turns out, while surprisingly accurate, those lines were not intended to measure spirits.

College students are familiar with Solo red cups. But they probably couldn’t tell you what the lines mean.

The party cup actually doubles as a measuring cup — except for liquor instead of milk. The first line above the base is the one-ounce marker, or a serving of liquor. The second denotes five ounces, useful for measuring wine. And the third one signifies 12 ounces, perfect for beer (the cheaper, the better) — probably the only acceptable liquid for a Solo cup.

Good to know for the next kegger.

At my old church we had a party around the time of Halloween and were supposed to do everything “disgusting” so one couple brought a full sized kids training toilet and some bags of chips. The removable bowl contained the bean dip.

It had never been used, or so they said...

With a shot of medium grade Johnny Walker, you have a Shirley Temple Black.

I go before I leave for work, at 4:30am. I drink 6-8 16.9 oz bottles at work. I usually don’t need to go until I get home around 6:30pm

Of course, a lot of people who use the red cup for adult bevs just fill it up to the top anyway.

Even if I made this myself & knew the kitty litter pan & pooper scooper were new ..... I don’t know if I could bring myself to eat it. After years of dealing with litter pans, this is just too realistic!!! I passed the recipe on to a younger generation - I suspect it will be at their next Halloween party!

No backyard barbecue is complete without the ubiquitous red Solo cup!

Just seeing the red Solo cup puts me in the mood for taking a six-pack out to the picnic table on a hot muggy day (like today) and putting some steaks on the grill.

Boy, things must have changed since my college days — I mean, *Measure* booze, wine, or beer???????????????

College, where alcoholics are created.

Red Solo cup ...

Is there anything it can't do?

If you’re drinking out of Solo cups, the only measurement is full.
