SB 249 Ban on Possession of Magazine Release Parts
Bill Author: Senator Leland Yee, D-San Francisco firstname.lastname@example.org
SB 249, introduced by Senator Yee, began its travel through the legislative process this year as an agricultural bill. On May 22, after the time for introduction of new bills had passed, SB 249 was fully gutted and amended into a bill that now proposes to restrict magazine release components in semi-auto firearms. The bill suddenly changed into its new form following a CBS news story focusing on some semi-automatic firearms.
CRPAs concerns regarding SB 249 include the fact that it would make it illegal to possess parts for magazine releases on most semi-auto firearms with detachable magazines. There are hundreds of thousands of firearms that may be impacted by SB 249. These firearms legally owned by residents. SB 249 could potentially make criminals out of law-abiding citizens.
The bill has been referred from the Assembly Rules Committee to the Assembly Public Safety Committee and will most likely be heard on July 3. CRPA and NRA are working to stop this bill; please use your collective power as a CRPA member to voice your opposition to SB 249 and help to defeat it immediately.

too late for me. My Playboy collection has already been discovered and thrown out.
What is meant by “Magazine Release Part”?
A button and spring?
Ya...but your “release parts” are still attached to each of your wrists....
Ya...but your “release parts” are still attached to each of you wrists....
Better yet, move to Texas.
Bullet button. It is such bull. My Ak is almost impossible to get the magizine on and off.. Commies trying to make me a criminal. I say Take it!
Pshaw, the HHS just stated that there were no Zombies roaming around in America!
This is a Zombie bill, it took on a whole new character and purpose, then rose from the dead to attack Kalifornian’s trying to comply with laws infringing their rights in violation of the second amendment.
Note to Kalifornia gun owners - STOP trying to reason with unreasonable people, vote them OUT of office.
Get seriously involved in this election, make it plain that anything less than working to REPEAL the AW Ban means incumbents lose office in November.
Let challengers know this is a make or break issue.
Bring it up at EVERY campaign event!
Get noisy, get in their faces, take the heat, it’s your future at stake!
Or continue to see the liberty tree felled one axe cut at a time.
The “Bullet Button” consists of three small and simple parts. I don’t see how it can be defined well enough to be made illegal. It is not as complex as a nail clipper.
The dreaded ambidextrous, automatic, obviously protruding, detachable, not-made-in-USA, black, flash suppressed, high capacity, Magazine Release Part! (with bayonet lug...)
Just get the hell out of Komifornia and be done with it.
Being a gun owner in Komifornia is like being a white farmer in Zimbabwe ... a no win situation. You are just a sitting duck.
If I'm wrong, please correct me.
