When it comes to tax reform heroes, Warren Buffett, that self-made billionaire who pushes for higher taxes on millionaires, is so yesterday. The new champion of the progressive tax movement is a bit more mythical, a touch less law-abiding and frightfully more fashionable.

Robin Hood, the fictional outlaw famous for stealing from the rich to give to the poor, has emerged as the face of a new tax movement, one that calls for a 50 cent sales tax on every $100 traded on Wall Street.

I'll bet Zer0 will find Robin is an ancestor on his mother's side and will incorporate him in Zer0's next autobiography.

Yep. "Dreams from the Ganja"

That is the one section of the book I still have a hard time with.

You see, I do not view Robin Hood as he describes him. I see him as the one taking back that which was looted from the needy to begin with.

Robin Hood is the original John Galt.

Now I do agree that the ideal of Robin Hood has been stripped and morphed to fit the progressive agenda...of that I do agree as witnessed in today’s thread. And it is with grand amusement one watches a liberal/progressive bristle at the very idea that Sherwood Wood Forest was the first Galt’s Gulch.

So is it possible for us to take back that icon and set right the thinking?

"Dennis Moore"

I find it thoroughly ironic and amusing that a great comedian and total leftie, John Cleese, would utter the lines "redistribution of wealth is trickier than I thought."

“Ragnar’s” (i.e. Ayn Rand’s) view was that the Robin Hood legend had been hopelessly corrupted into what these chanting weinies see: The guy who robs from the rich and gives to the poor. They don’t see the man who took back was was confiscated and then returned that wealth to those who earned it. And they certainly don’t see how those on Wall Street risk their own money creating wealth that others share in.

Exactly. Robin Hood stole from the government and returned the monies to their rightful owners.

Oh, I didn’t say I disagreed with that. In fact, I stated I did agree that the icon had been corrupted.

What I find amusing is if one asked them “Who is John Galt,” they would never associate him with being Robin Hood. Or that the band of merry men were the productive elements of their society depending on which legend you read. Most all the core members were parts of the rich society banished or spurned by the elite.

This is where I wonder, if there is some way to get some of the modern day “progressives,” to realize that what they are seeking is not socialism, but capitalism?
