Boehner Takes Hard Line on Holder Contempt Vote

Speaker John Boehner demanded Thursday that the Obama administration give in and turn over documents related to a botched gun-tracking operation, insisting that's the only way to stop a House vote to hold the attorney general in contempt.

Boehner took a hard line against the Obama administration and Attorney General Eric Holder despite a willingness by House Republicans and Holder to negotiate a settlement before the matter becomes a constitutional crisis. The president has invoked executive privilege, a legal principle used to avoid disclosure of internal presidential documents.

While a confrontation between the legislative and executive branches of government would be an academic dispute to most voters, Boehner on Thursday injected a human element into the dispute over documents related to Operation Fast and Furious. He said the family of slain U.S. Border Agent Brian Terry deserved answers about the guns that killed him.

Two guns that were allowed to "walk" from Arizona to Mexico in the failed effort to track weapons were found near Terry after he was killed.

"The Terry family deserves answers about why their son was killed as a result of an operation run by the United States government," Boehner told his weekly news conference...

There lies the rub. The court works for Holder. To "expedite" likely means within the next 5 years!

Boehner.....portrait of a vagina.

He will fold at the first push.....don't hold yer breath

Now Issa....balls no doubt

Why do they say “eye-suh”?

The Issa family is a prominent Maronite family in Jamaica and the Caymans and there they call themselves “i as in the word it...a short i-suh”

Well now isn’t this jut exactly what we all knew was going to happen?

BATF Agents in Arizona lost track of several hundred guns. Hundreds of people are dead. And now the Committee and the Head Honcho responsible for it are willing to negotiate a deal as the Head Honcho’s attack parrot squawks about how unfair it is that Florida was trying to suppress voter turnout among people who are voting illegally in the first place.

The Terry family deserves one hell of a lot more than some idiot explanations and apologies for this. What they deserve is Prison Stripes for the people directly responsible for it rather than negotiating a deal to avoid even a Citation for Contempt of a Congress that continually proves itself unworthy of even That currently debased appellation.

You try a stunt like this on your own and see how long it takes you to be looking at the a** end of life in prison or perhaps even on death row.

If those gun sales had been interdicted at the point of sale the way they are for a whole bunch of Americans BY this pathetic excuse for a Justice System for any Number of specious “ineligible to purchase or possess” ginned up, crap excuses, Mr Terry and the others would still be alive.

But no, BATF makes up their own rules as they see fit, screw up Royally and get a couple hundred people killed, and Congress is willing to Negotiate a kid glove settlement for them, because They’re the experts.

Boehner took a hard line to avoid a Constitutional Crisis. WTF?

What Constitutional Crisis? Boehner and his Deal Brokers themselves?

Boehner and his Deal only perpetuates the problem and guarantees it will happen again.

This would be an Academic Dispute to most voters? Like I said, Try pulling a stunt like this yourself and find out how Fast and Furious it becomes on the front pages of Every newspaper in America with those same voters seeing Nothing Academic about it and Nothing being in Dispute about you, as a non-government party, being a Monster who should be dealt with in the absolute Strictest and most Draconian of terms the Law allows.

There is Nothing Academic and Nothing to Dispute about this. 200 people are dead. The Law was broken. We can call it being side-stepped. We can call it an allowable prerogative of Holder’s Agents attempting to stem a bigger problem.

But They took it on themselves to pull this stunt without even being Capable of pulling it off. And after Boehner and his Deal Negotiators have green lighted it by offering up explanations and apologies in lieu of preventing its future re-occurrence so that an MSM they already know despises them, won’t berate them for playing politics, you can take it To The Bank that it Will happen again, and again, and again.

I believe this will go to the Federal District Court for the District of Columbia.

It all depends on THIS judge.

Holy Cow! Just last night I was commenting on just how ironic it would be if that Judge were Roy Lamberth. He is a no nonsense kinda guy and this could very well get extremely interesting.

One interesting aspect to this.

Is the conservative position that the walked guns killed Agent Terry? Or, did a primal cartel thug kill Agent Terry?

How does one resolve this vis-a-vis “Guns don’t kill people. People kill people.”

Need to be careful we don’t argue ourselves into more gun control here, which is of course what Obeyme was trying to achieve here.

How does one resolve this vis-a-vis “Guns don’t kill people. People kill people.”

In this case the “people” would have not had the guns used to “kill people”, if they hadn’t been provided to them by Odumba$$ and Steadman. The intent was always to put the guns in the hands of those “people” who would use them to commit crimes, in order to justify additional gun control laws. Behold the perversion of the liberal mind...

The conservative position is that the Obama administration essentially put that gun, illegally, in the hands of that cartel member, in this country illegally, who used it to Kill Agent Terry.

So there in itself, you have two incredible wrongs that resulted in the death of one of our own. I call it a two-fer.

despite all the rumors and innuendo put out by our enemies ( the mainstream media ) the record clearly shows that boner has been in Issa’s corner all along on this one... do not believe the rumors, look at the record, then take a deep breath and relax...

There is no way, no how, that even a rino like boner will let history slip though his fingers....and a president complicit in murder is indeed history

It all depends on THIS judge.

Are you saying that Lamberth will have some automatic role in this affair? I agree that the case will go to the Federal District Court as a civil suit but the Lamberth connection is not obvious.

BTW, Lamberth is an OK guy IMHO.

Lamberth will assign this case to himself, it's that important. Lamberth doesn't care about political ideology. He cares about the law.

Regardless of how he rules, and I believe that will be in favor of Congress, this will be appealed up the line all the way to the Supremes.

And we already know precedent from that court.

I don’t see this as guns killing people I see this as an out of control government so much so that it’s actually responsible for the lives of two border agents and hundreds of Mexicans and who knows how many more Americans may have been killed by our government’s actions.

No doubt, had the guns not ‘walked’, the cartels would still be acquiring guns elsewhere, and poor Agent Terry might still be dead. Nevertheless, the FACT is that the murder weapon came from the US government, and that is a heinous thing to have happen, and it needs to be thoroughly investigated because it represents either immense incompetence, or disregard for the law, or both.

There is reason to believe that Agent Terry's BORTAC team knew nothing about the rip crew and the rip crew knew nothing in advance about Agent Terry's team.

FBI Criminal Informant Complicit in Brian Terry’s Death (PJM Exclusive)

Previously, Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry’s death in Peck Canyon, Arizona was described as a chance meeting that led to a firefight: an illegal alien “rip crew” working for the Sinaloa cartel was hoping to find other illegal aliens and to rob them at gunpoint. Instead, they stumbled across a Border Patrol unit and murdered Agent Terry.

Last week, the Washington Times offered a new version of the encounter: they reported that the rip crew was not hunting illegals, but Border Patrol teams — with the intention of engaging them in combat.

Sources now tell PJ Media that neither version of events is accurate: the rip crew was not waiting for a chance encounter with other illegals, nor did the members intend to engage American law enforcement agents.

The rip crew was in Peck Canyon that evening with the intention of stealing money and drugs from a specific shipment of which they had prior knowledge.

(snip)

The rip crew knew to be in Peck Canyon that December evening because a CI working for the FBI found out about a smuggling run — from the FBI.

(snip)

A source tells PJM that the FBI knew from wiretaps that the CI was using their information to set up an ambush. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) — through its own CIs and communications intercepts — was also aware of the planned assault. Neither the DEA nor FBI warned Border Patrol about the expected criminal activity.

(snip)

Multiple sources tell PJM that this third weapon “disappeared” because it was the weapon carried by the FBI CI who ran the rip crew. When it was recovered near the scene of the murder and subsequently traced by the ATF, it traced back to the FBI CI via the gun shop in Texas where it was purchased.

(snip)

Neither agency bothered to warn Border Patrol to keep their BORTAC teams out of Peck Canyon that evening. As a direct result of this FBI and DEA failure — combined with Homeland Security forcing BORTAC units to carry less-lethal beanbag rounds in some of their primary weapons — Brian Terry’s under-armed four-man unit walked into an ambush against a heavily armed rip crew, at least five of whom were carrying rifles.

Brian Terry’s murder was entirely preventable. The incompetence of the DEA and FBI let his Border Patrol unit walk into an ambush. After the ambush, it appears the FBI tampered with evidence to cover up that one of their informants was involved with the murder of a federal agent.

They might have got guns from elsewhere, but they might never have been in that location. It has been alleged (rather convincingly) that many guns were bought with FBI money given to a confidential informant, that the confidential informant was given information that led to the "rip crew" going to the canyon that night, and that there was a third gun at the scene, that was tied to the confidential informant, but it was removed from the scene by the FBI, who did not want their confidential informant implicated.

No one can reasonably deny that the cartels can find numerous sources for guns. But they snapped up at least 2,500 "walked" guns from American gun shops at American prices. That clearly says that they will take whatever they can get and will pay whatever price is asked. Why not? They have loads of money.

It should also be kept in mind that there are several drug cartels in Mexico and they are in competition with each other to buy arms and equipment as much as they are to sell drugs. Some cartels have more ex-military in them than others so those outfits would have a leg up on arms stolen from armories. They no doubt compete fiercely for foreign sourced arms too. The key word being fiercely as in "your head's on a bridge and your body is five miles away in a ditch for stepping on our turf."
