Tulsa police say a reported abduction attempt turned out to be a case of two men catching a man who tried to steal a car, then tying him to a fence while they waited for officers to arrive.
It happened Monday shortly after noon in the 1000 block of N. Garnett Road.
Police say the victim and his friend were bailing hay in a field when they saw a man get into the vehicle and drive away.
The owner had left his keys in the car, police say.
They followed the would be thief until he got stopped in traffic a few blocks north.
At that point, they pulled the man out of the car, trussed him up with rope, and bound him to the chain link fence.
Police say the men are experienced cowboys, and they had no trouble roping and tying the man.

I so love OK. Lived there for 7 years. Would go back in a minute.
So matter of fact simple on solutions. Texas has cowboys too. Outside sports (not a sports fan) TX & OK have a lot more in common than either state will admit.
Judging by the perp’s photo, there is no place left to put a brand.

Like someone else said, I love a story with a happy ending. Even better when a father and son work together. It’s a beautiful thing.

And some cops have a good sense of humor.
I remember a similar incident years ago. A gas station owner caught some guy stealing so he tied him up to a pole outside, then placed a sign that said...”THIEF” on him, then called the police to come and get the thief.
Since they had the rope, they should have found a tree...

They should have castrated him, ear notched him, tattooed his lower lip and give him a Blackleg shot. Then branded him with a B on the left jaw with hot iron, and say he "banged out".
