But now, thanks to the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, gay and lesbian soldiers and sailors have been told by top brass that it is OK to be out and proud.
“As we recognize Pride Month, I want to personally thank all of our gay and lesbian service members,” said Defense Secretary Leon Panetta in a videotaped message released last week. “You can be proud of serving your country and be proud of who you are when in uniform.”
In addition to the video, the Pentagon will host a Pride Month event on June 26 with a keynote speaker followed by a panel discussion on the “The Value of Open Service and Diversity.”

Evidence of that will come on Sunday, when 25 openly gay sailors from the Great Lakes Naval Station north of Chicago march in Chicago’s Gay Pride Parade with the blessing of their commander. That’s a first in Chicago and possibly even the nation.
The sailors are members of a group called G.L.A.S.S. or Great Lakes Area Gay, Lesbian and Supportive Sailors. The group was formed after the end of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, is sanctioned by the military and meets on the naval station base. It’s believed to be the first of its kind in the country.
The group will have the seventh position in the parade lineup, according to founder Petty Officer Ann Foster. For the first time, she says military personnel can be proud of their military service and openly show their gay pride at the same time.

I wonder if these military gays will be able to show their gay pride in uniform. If so, that is against military policy.

I can just see the Navy Band marching in the Gay Pride Parade wearing their new optional uniform..Service Dress Chaps.

You do know that it was the Marine Band playing in “honor” of homosexuals at the White House the other day for a “Gay Pride” event?
As a former sailor, I get a lot of heat from some of the other branches, but the way things are going, there isn’t going to be much room to make fun of anyone else soon.
Give it time. They will sport spandex fatigues and red lipstick and next years homo celebration. So glad I am no longer in the military.
Any self respecting soldier will be opting out of this joke before long. Not only are they expected to fight for a dictator but to celebrate perversion as well.

My father enlisted in the US Army in 1939 because he came from a sharecropper family in Clinton SC and there wasn’t anything there for him with a 5th grade education. He was there throughout WWII, the thick of it.
His transport ship from Africa was torpedoed in the Med. Later, he was in Sicily, and in the Battle of Rome such as it was. He often remarked to me about Monte Cassini and the destruction there. He continued on through to Germany and ended up occupying there and came home in 1949 to have ME in 1950...then promply off to the H-BOMB tests in Eniwetok (SP?) and then I remember my mother told me he’d been tagged for Korea in late 52.... home for less than a few months in all that time. Later, before he retired, he was then tagged for Vietnam in the early 60s..... He died in 1971 while I was overseas in the military myself.....

Panetta went on to say during the Gay Pride month, the names of the branches of the armed forces would be changed to the following:
Army -—> Rump Rangers
Navy -—> Butt Pirates
Air Force -—> Flying Fairies
Marines -—> The Semper Bi’s
Not to offend the military folks, just to take Panetta and the celebration of this perversion to it’s natural absurdity. In five years they may actually do something like this. Nothing surprises me anymore. Libs always can find another level of depravity to wallow around in.
The American people voted for this perversion in 2008 when they voted Obama in. Only an idiot couldn’t see this coming. The armed forces will be irreparably harmed and the end result will be our destruction, if only partially.
It’s a shame that the rest of us will suffer for the stupidity of the general citizenry.

I was worried that there will be naked people marching in the streets, which could happen as well. Frankly, I also hope we don’t have to have a whiny bunch of people in the military who complain about how nasty war is, because honestly, that’s forgetting the truth as told by William T. Sherman, “War is cruelty”.
