Ahmed Shafik, who served as Egyptian prime minister under Hosni Mubarak, will be announced as the winner of the country's presidential runoff election on Sunday evening, Egpytian daily Al-Ahram reported Friday, citing government sources.
Al-Ahram quoted a source in the current Egyptian government as saying Shafik will be declared victor with 50.7 percent of the vote.
Both Shafik and rival candidate Mohamed Morsy of the Muslim Brotherhood have previously declared themselves the winner of the runoff election.
The results of the election were originally scheduled to be announced on Thursday, but the announcement was delayed as Egypt's electoral commission investigated charges of fraud lodged by both sides.

This is as much as loss for obama as it is for the muslim brotherhood. our muslim and chief has welcomed the brotherhood into the white house w/open arms. not good for barry.
More like this:
The Bible is the strangest and most amazing book in the world. Most times when I open it, I see something I've missed or things jump out at me that didn't make sense before. I've also spent much time trying to find something that I know I've read, only to fail as it seemed to now be hidden.
The election is meaningless. The military is in charge, and they have the guns and tanks.
They will not give up their power voluntarily. They control the billions of American aid money and are in charge of any construction.
If you don’t like it, come and face the tanks. Or go to America.
We have no idea who won legally. Same people kept putting Mubarak in office after all.
Not in the articles i’ve read.
Such as . . . ?
yep PapaBear3625, the hammer could become more ratcheted up. Not looking forward to it being ratcheted up, and am praying God does not will it to be so, yet know in my heart the likelihood draws nigh for all our Military Persons, and possibly we civilians (inside our nation) who are this nation’s citizens. Do not want to scare anyone, yet sometimes one should prepare to be scared. Being scared is not something to be avoided. Sometimes being scared creates a Hero.
All along the contention has been between the military and the hardliners. The military eventually stepped aside when the protestors where trying to overthrow Mubarak but they have always tried to thwart the MB.
All warfare is based on deception. Hold out baits to entice the enemy. Feign disorder, and crush him.All part of taqiyyah too. The most believable stuff out of there is the chanting in Tahrir Square about going to Jerusalem to be martyrs, what the presidential candidates say in public about tearing up the Camp David Accords and making Jerusalem the capital of an Islamic Egypt, and other rhetoric along those lines.
A democratic or a republican form of government just does not work in Muslim countries. There has never been one, so why would anyone think it can work now.
reuters has a livestream
Self-government can only work among virtuous people. The reason the Roman Republic was replaced by the Empire is that the people had become corrupted, and were no longer fit for self-rule.
The Egyptians have NEVER known the level of virtue needed for self-rule. It is not part of their culture, and has never been part of it. They have ALWAYS been ruled over.
Yep I’ve been considering that since last night, again.
If the Muslim Brotherhood dude loses, get ready for Egypt to explode, I think.

“The announcement is late. I wonder if Obamas proxies are still on the phone threatening dire consequences if the Muslim Brotherhood is not declared the winner?”
Could be! I’m on another site...someone from Switzerland said that MB has won, but it hasn’t been announced.
Many conflicting stories.
Someone from Poland posted this just now....
Dina Demrdash BBC Arabic journalist
says the news conference of the Supreme Presidential Election Commission is only minutes away, as speculations about both Ahmed Shafiq and Mohammed Morsi wins reaches fever pitch ahead of the results. Tahrir square is seeing tens of thousands of pro- Mursi protesters praying for his win. In Nasr City neighborhood, hundereds of Shafiq supporters are awaiting the results. There is a heavy security presence around the homes of both candidates.
Translated in English...
Morsi declared winner.
Muslim Brotherhood won, exactly what Obama wanted, the total destruction of Israel
Thanks a lot Obama for helping to destroy another middle east country.
Obama may have to say an extra prayer of thanks to Mecca today. Obama has taken a great step today toward the creation of the Greater Caliphate and the destruction of Israel.
‘Egypt gov’t sources: Shafik to be named president’ (Muslim Brotherhood loses!!!)
That worked out well didn’t it?
So much for scooping the election results.
Moderator needs to pull this thread off the headlines or better yet, put it right next to the one where the muzzies win.
I have that book on my end table now. I just haven’t picked it up to read it yet. Perhaps today.............
Well, which is it? Some threads declare for Morsi, now this one for Shafik.
Laz, it's about to become civil war. Think Bush versus Gore with armed gangs, suicide bombers and weaponry shipped in from all sides.
So, civil war is better than World War Three.
This is an old thread from yesterday with, apparently, incorrect, earlier information.
Not necessarily. Not unless there is a concerted purge of the Muslim Brotherhood from the military. A more likely scenario is the military fragmenting into secular versus religious. That means Egypt turns into a warlord-based conflict with outsiders taking sides and shipping in arms.
Unless Egypt gets nukes -- quite impossible -- nobody is marching on Jerusalem unless they want to end up like the Fourth Crusade.
Came numerous times, it appears. Can stand by everything I typed though.
20 Go, my people, enter your rooms and shut the doors behind you; hide yourselves for a little while until his wrath has passed by.
21 See, the Lord is coming out of his dwelling to punish the people of the earth for their sins. The earth will disclose the blood shed on it; the earth will conceal its slain no longer.
The Liberal Messiah is not the same as the United States. That will be confirmed in November.
Americans really are the biggest fools in history.
Our FIRST MUSLIM PRESIDENT's priority is setting up radical Islam for world takeover.
What do you think happened in Libya and WHY? Hussein is setting up Libya and Egypt for the next major war against Israel. Syria is also being set up to fall into the nutjobs hands.
Hussein is not working for us, he is working for them. Are you one of the non-thinking people who believes Hussein is on the wrong side of every issue because he's a radical leftist/incompetent fool?
Think about it, if you can. Hussein is on the wrong side of every issue because he is trying to damage the United States in every way he can before he is hung for treason. Apparently he doesn't have to worry about Americans figuring out who he is until the NY TIMES tells them he is a traitor.
He has meant to bring the free market down for these reasons...and he does not intend to fix it. It is part of the "fundamental change."
Her is who I think he really is:
And his actions in the so-called Arab Spring" are bringing about an ISlamic Caliophate as any one who can read a map can tell:
Excellent graphic, Jeff.
The “king of the south” of the Biblical endtimes just came into focus.
Hope you are doing well.
I am doing werll. I have pretty much plateaued in my condition and have learned to live with the resulting conditions and disabilities as graciously, and truthfully, as thankfully as I can. Once again, on the mirocosm, our Father';s plan works out for us and that is what is best. it is left for us to decide how to react to and live with it. In my case, I have made the detemination to repeat the words of a great prophet in the old testament..."The Lord giveth, and the Lord taketh away. Blessed be the name of the Lord."
We are told that "all thnigs work together for the good of those that love the Lord," and I have fund thios to be oh so true. ALL things, not kust the pleasant things that we naturally like and aspire to...but also the difficult things if we will turn to Him and seek His counsel and abide His will.
Thanks for asking and God's speed and blessings to you and yours!
