The all-consuming hunt for donors has led President Barack Obama’s campaign to England. And France. And China.

Obama is tapping the network of American citizens living outside the 50 states more than any other presidential campaign has before, with more than a dozen bundlers who have pledged to raise as much as $4.5 million.

The president’s overseas power centers include London, where high-powered execs like Warner Bros. Josh Berger and Anthony Gardner of Palamon Capital Partners have promised to deliver as much as $500,000 each to the campaign, and Shanghai, where businessman and Technology for Obama co-Chairman Robert Roche has committed to bringing in more than $500,000.

It’s all legal — the donors are American citizens who pay U.S. taxes — and the net income to the campaigns is paltry compared the hundreds of millions of dollars raised stateside

Thatis very confusing in a way. One might ask why would any rich person cintribute to an Obama campaign when he is trying to raise taxes on the rich.

The answer is that after election Obama may raise their taxes ,but he will pay them back with corrupt contracts,money he spreads around to his favorites, laws that will favor them, cheap labor from immigrants, and in many other ways.

Don’t worry they will all receive what they donated and more while the poor Middle class American pays for it all.

The wealthy individuals in business, sports or Hollywood, who donate (or shakedown) to 0dumb0 are very much part of the “pay to play” scenario that is an absolute routine & practice of the liberal socialist demoRATs. The kind of wealth being tapped here doesn't pay because they like or agree with him. They pay for access. Just part of the cost of doing business. They may vote for Romney, but they are hedging their bets by buying insurance against an obama win.

Follow the money. It’s called Crony Capitalism. You “donate” to get face time. Let’s say you run Coca Cola. At the face time you say, “Gosh, I think the cola industry needs additional safety inspections to ensure mouse urine doesn’t get into anybody’s drink.” Now, why would you do that? Because although the new legislation will add 10 cents per six pack to your product, it may add 10 cents per bottle to smaller producers. The smaller producers go out of business. You pick up their shelf space and a percentage of their customers. (This is a real case, BTW.)

Has Obama’s domestic money dried up so much that he needs to get offshore money? That’s not a good sign for the One. He has gone from the perceived master of small donations to begging for money offshore, begging for wedding and other registry gifts, and offering celebrity meet and greets. It’s almost sad if it didn’t bring me so much joy watching his train wreck.

Does anyone have individual donation numbers for the One 2008 vs 2012? Given the begging for cash there must be a HUGE drop in donators.
