Former Penn State assistant coach Jerry Sandusky has been placed on suicide watch in jail, his lawyer said on Saturday, day after being found guilty of the serial sexual abuse of vulnerable young people.
Speaking on CNN, Sandusky's co-counsel Karl Rominger said his client was in protective custody and being kept away from other inmates as a precautionary measure, adding that there was no "immediate concerns" about Sandusky's wellbeing.
Sandusky is currently in jail awaiting sentencing for 45 counts of sexually abusing underage boys over a 15-year period. Sandusky is expected to spend the rest of his life in prison, although his attorneys have indicated that they will appeal.
Late Friday, a jury of seven women and five men returned after more than 20 hours of deliberations in the trial in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania. It found Sandusky guilty of 45 out of 48 counts, and he was taken away from the court in handcuffs.
There were dramatic scenes outside the courtroom where a large crowd of hundreds of spectators had assembled. They cheered when the verdict was announced, and someone shouted "Rot in hell' as Sandusky was put into a police car and driven away.
A mother of one of his victims said: "Nobody wins. We've all lost."

There is justice that needs to be served before this pervert kills himself. The first thing that needs to be done is the slow removal of his genitalia by constriction. After that, the civil cases can begin while Jerry plays girlfriend in prison.
Child molesters don’t do awfully well in prison...I’d imagine that little Tweety Bird fart he once had will be a full blown Hippo Fart in no short order. Either that, or he’ll get shived in the courtyard....either way, he deserves it.

He should have done everyone a favor and committed suicide before the trial even took place.

I don’t think I’d watch him, but if he did manage to suicide it would be one less pedophile for the state to support. Now, what about his enablers? When are they going on trial?

Everytime Sandusky’s disgusting crimes are mentioned they should be prefaced with the descriptor “homosexual”.
An informed populace is better served, despite the agenda of the FagMedia.
They should put him in an empty room with nothing but a full bottle of aspirin and a straight razor.

Exactly...it’s no accident that Sandusky “retired” in the late 90s, shortly after the first investigation into his activities. The reason the Sodomite was allowed to retire with full pension and benefits is because too many people were aware of his proclivities and looked the other way. So, he kept his keys to the football complex and when that grad assistant caught him molesting another little boy, he was promoted to assistant coach, “Joe Pa” called the AD, and the whole, perverted mess got swept under the rug again.
During my days as an ROTC instructor at an SEC school. I became friends with a couple of assistant coaches on the football staff. I still exchanges e-mails with them occasionally and when the Sandusky scandal broke, I asked them if it was possible that Paterno and his assistants didn’t know what was going on. Both said it was virtually impossible, given Sandusky’s long tenure at the school and the number of assistants who spent their careers working with him.
As one of them told me, you don’t spend 14-18 hour days working with a guy without getting a sense of what kind of man your colleague is. A lot of people at PSU knew who Jerr y Sandusky really was and elected to ignore it, lest the Nittany Lion football “brand” be damaged and with it, Joe Pa’s sterling reputation.
Penn State can’t pay enough to the young men who were raped by Jerry Sandusky. And if the NCAA has any shred of integrity (highly unlikely), they will impose the death penalty for two or three years. PSU deserves nothing less. Remember, SMU was forced to suspend its football program back in the 1980s for the mere crime of paying its players. What Sandusky did as a representative of that school is infinitely worse, and there were plenty of folks at Penn State who willingly covered up his actions.
Sadly, had this happened at ANY other big-time NCAA football school, the same cover-up would have taken place, IMO.
And I mean ANY of them - LSU, Bama, USC, UNC, Michigan, Arkansas, Stanford, to name a few
Give him 15 feet of rope and leave him alone!

It behooves pedophiles to present themselves as victims too in prisons. The percentage of those claims which are factual turns out to be not so much.
