Military Rolls Tanks Onto St. Louis Streets...But Why?
I have to say that this event, which is being labeled a "training exercise", makes very little sense to me. U.S. Army troops all the way from Maryland running open exercises in armored personnel carriers on the busy streets of St. Louis? I know Maryland is a small state, but is there really not enough room at Ft. Detrick to accommodate a tank column and some troops? Are there not entire fake neighborhood and town complexes built with taxpayer dollars on military bases across the country meant to facilitate a realistic urban environment for troops to train in? And why travel hundreds of miles to Missouri? At the very least, this is a massive waste of funds.
On the other hand, such an action on the part of the Department of Defense makes perfect sense if the goal is to acclimate citizens to the idea of seeing tanks and armed military acting in a policing capacity. Just check out the two random idiots the local news affiliate picked to interview in St. Louis on the subject. Both state that they think the exercise is a "great idea", because having the military on the streets would help to "reduce crime":

I suspect that the news affiliate did not go out of its way to get any counter-opinions, even though they admitted to being contacted by those voicing concerns over martial law.
Even so, it's sad and simultaneously terrifying that there are plenty of mindless dupes out there who do not understand the dangers of the Army crossing the Rubicon and acting in a civil law enforcement capacity, never mind that they are completely ignorant of the fact that it violates the Posse Comitatus Act. One of the interviewees even points out that in some countries they don't use police at all; only military. This is true. We call those countries "tyrannies"...
Add to the mix the reality that the DOD refuses to respond to any further inquiries by the press concerning details of the training, and you get yet another suspicious instance of behavior on the part of the establishment that seems preparatory for domestic action. I believe that the high frequency at which these activity reports have been coming in over the past year is certainly cause for alarm...

People are hardly aware of the fact that we have undergone a political and social revolution over the last 50 years. Those who were once outside the Western Eurpoean social structure have now almost completely taken over: i.e. blacks, perverts, foreigners, non-christians etc. They have been taking the jobs, the places in our schools, places in our government, driving the white Western European ever lower into poverty. They verbally insult and degrade us. They engage in violent assaults on us on our streets. While more stupid than us they have enough intelligence to realize that their conduct may precipitate a counter attack.(Though I doubt it!)They have been scrambling to create a military that will upon orders ruthlessly suppress and physical counter attack; i.e Gays, Aliens, weird women that see themselves to be “just like a man!” This type of military needs practice. Once highly trained as to the proper target and supression techniques those who only now have achieved power will feel confident enough to start the actual sack with the plunder of property, the rape of women and boys and the killing of males.
Most low flying unmarked planes in NE are looking for pot plants/growing areas in the woods (stills too as well as questionable campsites/trailers in the woods that may be drug related)...that’s what our LEO friends tell us anyway....it’s a full time job and they have had a lot of success with it in NE-so I guess it’s Vermont’s turn!

Freepers who vilified democrat Gov. Kathleen Blanco after hurricane Katrina should reflect that she was very properly resisting a federal power grab. Notwithstanding her politics, I always supported her insistance on retaining local control of the National Guard. People not from New Orleans don’t get that government at all levels viewed the storm’s aftermath as an opportunity to mounvt a dress rehearsal for martial law. SAR was merely an excuse and byproduct. What y’all saw on tv was mostly a show. Here at street level I can tell you it was all about military and paramilitary units finding out just how unconstitutional they could be when attention is distracted. The answer is — very.
I would think the tanks would tear up the streets.

They don’t call it a Civil Defense force, that would imply we need (or perhaps deserve) defense.
The official name is National Civilian Community Corps.
I think of it as the NATCCC, or simply the NATCs...
so they DROVE from Maryland to St.Louis to train troops in St.Louis how to drive them instead of FLYING the troops to the vehicles... BRILLIANT!!!
I see Apache Longbows flying around here quite often. But I guess since they’re made only a few miles away doesn’t mean anything....or does it? Now, a tank would make me go, hmmmm.
Hey, can't run the Abrams in Tal Afar anymore, can't run 'em at Ft Knox in Kentucky [Armor School moved to Ft Benning in GA] so that leaves downtown Saint Louie. No worries, plenty of combat engineers in the state to repave any streets that get cracked or rutted. And the practice they can get tracking cars rolling by on I-70 is fantastic!

They are going to redo the main roads and are using the tanks to break up the surface so they can repave it. Saves money.
They need to train in Chicago. If they want REAL experience.

the video showed ONLY wheeled vehicles and said if was a Military Police training exercise that would be rolling through residential neighborhoods, it said nothing about M1's... and even if they are using armor, it's GOT to be cheaper to fly the troops to the armor instead of bringing the armor to them

That depends entirely on where you want/need the armor to be when you are done...
Let’s make some sense out of this. There is an Army Reserve unit on Goodfellow Boulevard in north St. Louis. The reservists have been training at this facility for as long as I can remember, since before the Vietnam War. They have dozens of army vehicles at the unit. Ten trainers are coming from Ft. Meade, MD, to provide training to these reservists at their training facility.

Don’t know about the forks, but I’m sure they are not into venture capital or private equity.

By the way, there is an incident command structure established in writing specifically for a Katrina event. All she had to do was say the word go and the entire script would have played out as written. Instead we got days of chaos in SE Louisiana because she had no ability to make a command decision. The more she dragged this out, the more politicized the entire event became.

Before you spring for the narrative with the GOP seal of approval, you might ask yourself what the republican party has done lately for your constitutional rights that they should enjoy your uncritical credulity. You might consider how the power grab game is played — always with a distraction for the suckers and with competing narratives excluded. Katrina provided laboratory perfect conditions for martial law.

The Stafford Act was set up to limit Federal power in disasters, after Reagan mobilized the NG in Fla after a hurricane.
Blanco did not realize that she had to be proactive and specifically ASK for boots on the ground, temp housing, generators, mass casualty gear, and evacuation transportation. If you look at the Katrina paper trail, it is clear that she had no clue what to do. She definitely was not attempting to limit Fed involvement.
Naturally the press caught on and the meme became Bush’s Fault, while Bush could do nothing unless he risked impeachment for a clear and willful violation of Stafford.

Don’t forget, the National Highway System wasn;t about civilian transportation. Those massive upgrades including new bridges are about getting 72 ton tanks and other vehicles down the roads.
