Wake Up, Religious Conservatives: A Summons to Outrage
The American Thinker ^ | June 24, 2012 | Fay Voshell

[SNIP........]

You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours.

It was the moral indignation of British evangelicals like William Carey and William Wilberforce who demanded not dialogue and endless discussion, but the total elimination of the hideous practice of sati.

Even more pertinently, conservative Christians should take a page of instruction from the person of Christ, who repudiated sin while offering repentance and salvation to the sinner; who excoriated moral degeneracy; and who verbally fire-bombed the religious leaders of his day, describing them as whitewashed tombs, lying hypocrites, and self-serving theological charlatans.

In brief, there are enormous evils within American society which demand righteous indignation and outrage -- not passivity, "love," and "understanding."

Now is the time for conservative churches to heed the wakeup calls and join the Catholic Church in protests before it is too late to do so.

But it will require both leaders and laity to awake from their lethargy, refuse to be intimidated, shrug off ridicule, and above all, refuse to participate in their own funerals.

I’m glad you “welcome” [Catholics] to what—YOUR battle against the government’s assault on the First Amendment?

Think they’re earning the right to “take the lead” in Syria and other mid-east and African locales?

Did they earn the right in Mexico during the first quarter of the last century?

But in America? I’m not sure, but they might have “earned” the right to lead when they were hanged or burned alive by the “Christian” KKK for two decades.

Are many self-proclaimed Catholics also liberals? You can bet your life. And that certainly bolsters your argument. Problem is that no other Christian group has a triple-A American Conservative Rating either; but the fact that the official leadership of the Catholic Church HAS TAKEN THIS ISSUE ON ITSELF is all the proof necessary of their “right” to lead. Not to mention the fact that this CONSERVATIVE battle couldn’t even be waged if the Catholic Church weren’t the largest private supplier of healthcare and (Christian) charity outside the U. S. government.

Exactly who has? Or rather which church has? My church is a member church of the S.B.C. and just like the Catholic church we have people in high places who are liberal and we have people who are conservative. The Christian church, whether Catholic or other, should be unified and speak with one voice against evil but at least in recent history that has not been the case.

Exactly!

LOL I recognized the thought pattern. The first instinct or reaction is all too often (for all of us) to “not make waves” hoping to fly under the radar. It has however come time for all to stand and make a statement or lose it all. Just this past Saturday we had an organizational meeting of what is to become a national organization of hobby farmers. I had made a comment to my wife that perhaps it would be better to not organize as it may bring attention and harassment by big uncle. We looked at each other and realized that we had just commented that we should be “lemmings” and decided that to organize and stand was what was needed. If we don’t stand now we may not get another chance.

That is my ONLY argument. I’m not talking about last century or foreign countries. I was talking about America 2008, when a majority of Catholics voted for a man with no past other than a history of being in favor of communism, an admitted drug user, a murky muslim childhood, and 20 years in a racist church where he never heard anything. But, he promised to feed the children and lower the oceans and they fell for it. They wanted to feel good by voting for the black man.

Well, the old story about the fox and the snake comes to mind and you got bit! But don’t feel alone. The Jews got bit pretty bad too..and the women...and the blacks. The only winners from the Obama regime are bankers, homosexuals, illegal immigrants, and muslims. And if the RCC can convince the government to exempt them from the regulations, then your leadership won’t care about the “assault on the First Amendment” anymore and a large percentage of you will vote to re-elect the muslim/marxist wannabee-dictator in November.

There are battles for souls, then there are battles for principles here and now.

Each soul has an eternal destiny. This takes priority over our finite world.

That said, we’re called to be lights in the world, salt of the earth, etc. Christ was angered, and saddened, by evil. He acted against it by teaching the truth, living an exemplary life and calling people to the spiritual over the material.

He allowed himself to be sacrificed in order to address the personal sin and eternal destiny issues.

The Founders took Biblical principles and used them to establish a nation.

It isn’t the kingdom of God...that’s seperate...but let’s not forget that scripture says, “blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord”.
