College Scholarships for Muslim Students and Islamic Study

Find a Muslim scholarship from our list of sources in the United States and abroad. They are not large in number, so hurry and apply so you don't miss out.

Finding Scholarship Programs for Islamic Students

There are a number of scholarships available from universities and colleges available to Muslim students, although not every college will offer them. If this is a consideration of your application, then you may want to consider making an appointment with the financial aid advisors prior to enrollment to verify that the school you wish to attend offers these for you.

You can also contact your Muslim Community Leaders and inquire as to the local sponsored scholarships, if any are offered. Some Muslim based business may be offering local scholarships for tuition purposes. Even if they do not have any available for you, they can be instrumental in assisting you in securing scholarship opportunities.

There are very few United State based scholarships, at this time, and this article will detail in brief some of the best offerings. If you wish to pursue Islamic studies as your major, then researching other universities in the U.K., Saudi Arabia and India as well as other countries may be an option for you, as many of the opportunities available are not in the U.S.

Islamic Development Bank (IDB)

This is a scholarship for Muslims in Non-member countries. Awards are based on academic merit and financial need. Covered in the award is full tuition, medical and vision insurance, a monthly allowance, and miscellaneous college expenses, to name a few.

They do try and place recipients in the country of application, however if you enroll outside of the county, the do offer as a bonus air fare home between semesters.

The United States is not a member of the IDB, although they do place students in American Universities from other countries. The website has a listing of member countries. PDF File of 12 Pages listing countries contacts for Muslim Scholarships

Islamic Scholarship Fund

The ISF awards $1,000 to $10,000 annually to:

KFF Scholarship

This is a graduate scholarship available to Muslims studying in science, medicine or engineering. The scholarship can be used at U.S. colleges and the applicant must be a practicing Muslim of high academic merit.

This is a full scholarship award, paying all tuition fees, a monthly allowance, and they will give you a ticket home once during the 2-3 years you are a scholarship recipient.

Muslim Women

There are minority awards in the Muslim community, one of which is the Muslim Women's association of Washington, D.C. Available to any female Muslim full time student, it is awarded based on academic merit and financial need. While any female Muslim is encouraged to apply, they do give priority to D.C. residents.

The Arab Star Scholarships

This is a Dallas based scholarship offered from a Muslim newspaper to students majoring in journalism. Awards are $3000 and include an internship at the Arab Star.

Arab American Heritage Council

This is offered to High School seniors whose parents/guardians are a member of the Arab American Heritage Council (AAHC) for at least one year prior to application.

Go to the Al-Jamiat Financial Aid section for contact information for the three scholarships listed above along with other helpful information for student wanting to study Islam.

At this moment,if students wants to get funding, they may want to chose any of the following topics: Islam/Muslim, environment, and women. So, someone who studies the impact of climate change on the well being of Muslim women in xxx, they would be guaranteed to get funding.

Slow and Steady Islam Advances

Recipients not only get $$ from the Islamic Scholarship Fund, but they are assured a place at the table when coached by the Islamic Scholarship Fund to accuse the United States and other host countries of discrimination:

ISF Recipients and Board Members Represent at
UC Berkeley Islamophobia Conference

ISF is proud to have been actively represented at the Second Annual Critical Discourses on Islamophobia Conference this past weekend at UC Berkeley, School of Law. The two-day conference featured leading academics, advocates, and scholars from a variety of disciplines and critically examined the growing Islamophobic phenomena in the United States and its broader psychological, social, and academic implications on the American Muslim community.

ISF alumni recipients, Jason Van Boom and Yaser Ali presented their respective papers, "Breivik and Islamophobic Fantasies of Muslim Dominance," and "Shariah and Citizenship: How Islamophobia is Creating a Second-Class Citizenry in America" while ISF Board members, Hatem Bazian, Munir Jiwa, and Imam Zaid Shakir, as well as ISF Selection Committee member, Zahra Billoo, all spoke on various panels throughout the weekend.

At a time when the media dominates the status quo and continues to construct the image of Islam on TV shows, within political discourse, and in foreign policy, the conference taught attendees about Islamophobic concepts and explained how to counteract these increasingly accepted constructions.

ISF is proud to have contributed to such programs and aims to recruit alumni that will continue to participate in enriching programs that bring awareness to the systematically constructed discourse that frames Islam in a negative light.  Please check the event page for more information about the conference and to watch the videos. Videos will be posted on UC Berkeley's Center for Race and Gender website shortly.

Reminds of one of favorite new shows, Person of Interest, where the inventor of the watching machine talked about how people on the social nets just opened up.

This sounds like the same thing. Set up a proxy npo to fund the Islamos in America and get them to identify themselves and volunteer a lot of personal data.

Shazam! You have an instant data base on everyone who tries to get funding.

Then you can interview and categorize them as to levels of interest.

Then do some simple cross referencing and you have some great potential intel.
