DENVER (KDVR) A veteran Denver police officer and single mother was shot and killed trying to break up an altercation in City Park Sunday night.
Hundreds were in the park attending the kickoff event for the popular City Park Jazz festival when a fight broke out between two groups at approximately 8:07 p.m. Denver police officers were attempting to break up the fight when shots were fired.
The female officer was shot in the head and rushed to Denver Health. She died from her injuries shortly after arrival.
FOX31 learned the name of the slain officer, but will wait to release that information at the request of the DPD because all members of her family had not yet been notified Sunday night. FOX31 can confirm the officer was 32 years old and had moved to Denver from Detroit. She also was a board member of a prestigious police officers association.

I’ll take *Holder’s People* for $300, Alex.
Any city that hosts a ... jazz festival is asking to be burnt down.
Ill take *Holders People* for $300, Alex.Or *Famous Sons of Obama* for $100.
Did they catch the perp?
That’s exactly why she moved there. I know somebody who is on the force with her, and said the officer was a wonderful, warm person who moved out of Detroit so that she and her daughter could live in a more peaceful environment.
She was working an off-duty job at this jazz concert, normally a very tame event, and a couple of “groups” (gangs, but Denver won’t admit it has a gang problem” showed up and started fighting. She stepped forward to move them apart and one of them shot her in the head.
That is so tragic. Prayers for her family.
It’s going to be a *long, hot summer & fall*, s. Be safe.
What are the odds that this police officers is a small woman, physically not any kind of threat to those she confronted?
I’d say the odds are great.
Ain’t Affirmative Action wonderful?
Why don’t you kindly shut your mouth and respect the officer.
Denver prides itself as a sanctuary city ... this could be a Hispanic (illegals) issue not a 'Holders Children' issue. This female police officer (a single mother originally from Detroit) is probably black.
And Chick Corea?
And Chick Corea?
Yes, Be Safe.
We live in an urban area and my wife sometimes has a temper. I’m going to warn her to keep the big picture in mind, that the mobs are looking for an excuse to back up the Thugocracy in Washington with some Community Organizing at the street level, aka street violence.
Normally the concert is attended by Denver’s “yuppie” population, but because the weather has gotten hot, the gangbangers are out causing trouble early this year. They go to places or events where there are crowds so that they can rob the attendees, break into cars, etc.
This is usually a very peaceful event and most officers considered it to be very low-stress off-duty work. But Denver has a serious problem with these gangs, and the mayor is simply denying that there’s a problem.
The officer had a young daughter. The entire police community in Denver is grieving over this.
I hope you’re (both) “well-prepared/prepped” for what’s coming, if I’m reading ‘things’ correctly (hope not and it doesn’t happen).
Right. I forgot about that stampede at the Pat Metheny show a while ago.
We’re getting there. Thanks.
Alex can't help ya with this one. He's down with a heart attack!
I have to disagree. Jazz festivals are usually more sophisticated. Unless they consider (c)rap jazz.
Teehehe. I thought I would find someone who agreed with me.
I just didn't think it would be you.
I told ya those beatniks and their jazz music would lead to no good!
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Officers family.

Prayers for her family and loved ones... and a special prayer for her daughter... Thanks for sharing livius.
Be prepared when SHTF..MAYBE....COMING soon suburbanites must be prepared and armed....know how to shoot at center mass. Boy I feel the heet coming on around November time. Keep an watchful eye out on Obama, and suspicious activity in neighbor hood......most of all get a CWP.
We’ve lost a brave woman. No mercy for the perps.
But we CAN tell you she was a:
Thank goodness Fox31 is withholding her name. Mighty big of you.
I thought the same thing. They gave all the liberal talking points about her but felt they needed to withhold her name.
Got it all, and then *some*. Be Safe.
Not possible here in Jersey unless you are a LEO, politically connected or a big RAT donor. You have to prove a need, and the proof is never quite enough without the connections.
We will just have to stop being law abiding citizens where the law is contrary to the Constitution.
Only if Kenny G is one of the performers.
This doesn’t sound like gangbanger music:
June 24, 2012 - Tribute to Charlie Burrell Featuring Purnell Steen and Le Jazz Machine
Join us as we pay tribute to Charlie Burrell, an outstanding classical bassist for the Denver Symphony Orchestra. Also a master jazz bassist, one of the few musicians to have mastered both genres, Charlie is still rocking at over 90! He’ll be joined by pianist Purnell Steen and Le Jazz Machine for an original jazz set paying tribute to Charlie’s notable achievements and contributions to the Denver jazz community.
Yeah, that's what the mayor of Norfolk, VA said about the Laborfest riots.
"We got all the inner-city lowlifes together for a festival of music and heavy drinking, how did it all go wrong?"
And of course, the mayor is talking about 'get the weapons off the streets'...
Prayers for the Officer’s family and her soul.
I’ve seen it on COPS 100 times. Little girl cop pepper sprays the perp and yells at him to get on the ground, which he blows off, until male cop arrives to wrestle him down and cuff him.
