DENVER (KDVR) — A veteran Denver police officer and single mother was shot and killed trying to break up an altercation in City Park Sunday night.
Hundreds were in the park attending the kickoff event for the popular City Park Jazz festival when a fight broke out between two groups at approximately 8:07 p.m. Denver police officers were attempting to break up the fight when shots were fired.
The female officer was shot in the head and rushed to Denver Health. She died from her injuries shortly after arrival.
FOX31 learned the name of the slain officer, but will wait to release that information at the request of the DPD because all members of her family had not yet been notified Sunday night. FOX31 can confirm the officer was 32 years old and had moved to Denver from Detroit. She also was a board member of a prestigious police officer’s association.

That’s exactly why she moved there. I know somebody who is on the force with her, and said the officer was a wonderful, warm person who moved out of Detroit so that she and her daughter could live in a more peaceful environment.
She was working an off-duty job at this jazz concert, normally a very tame event, and a couple of “groups” (gangs, but Denver won’t admit it has a gang problem” showed up and started fighting. She stepped forward to move them apart and one of them shot her in the head.
That is so tragic. Prayers for her family.

What are the odds that this police officers is a small woman, physically not any kind of threat to those she confronted?

Denver prides itself as a sanctuary city ... this could be a Hispanic (illegals) issue not a 'Holders Children' issue. This female police officer (a single mother originally from Detroit) is probably black.

We live in an urban area and my wife sometimes has a temper. I’m going to warn her to keep the big picture in mind, that the mobs are looking for an excuse to back up the Thugocracy in Washington with some Community Organizing at the street level, aka street violence.
Normally the concert is attended by Denver’s “yuppie” population, but because the weather has gotten hot, the gangbangers are out causing trouble early this year. They go to places or events where there are crowds so that they can rob the attendees, break into cars, etc.
This is usually a very peaceful event and most officers considered it to be very low-stress off-duty work. But Denver has a serious problem with these gangs, and the mayor is simply denying that there’s a problem.
The officer had a young daughter. The entire police community in Denver is grieving over this.
I hope you’re (both) “well-prepared/prepped” for what’s coming, if I’m reading ‘things’ correctly (hope not and it doesn’t happen).
