Poll: Obama opens up wide lead among Hispanics (Obama 66, Romney 25)
Washington Times ^ | 06/25/2012 | By Seth McLaughlin

A new USA Today-Gallup poll shows that President Obama holds a big lead among Hispanic voters in his general election matchup against presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney — and that unemployment and economic growth, not immigration, remain the top issues for these voters.

The survey of a random sample of 1,753 adults between April 16 and May 31 showed Mr. Obama leading Mr. Romney by a 66 percent to 25 percent margin.

"Given the current dampened support for Obama among non-Hispanic whites, Obama's ability to build support or, more specifically, registration and turnout, among Hispanics in 2012 is widely seen as critical to his ability to win re-election. Thus, both candidates are carefully wooing the Hispanic vote," by Lydia Saad wrote in the poll analysis.

The poll follows the president's decision to halt temporarily the deportation of some young illegal immigrant adults who were brought here through no fault of their own — a move that has put new pressure on Mr. Romney, who has refused to say whether he would leave the policy in place if elected. Mr. Romney instead has argued that Mr. Obama's policies have slowed the economic recovery and made it harder for Hispanics to find work.

The poll found that Hispanics are more concerned about the economy than immigration — and that Mr. Obama also leads among these voters. Among those who cite unemployment and economic growth, the Democrat leads the former Massachusetts governor by 25 percentage points or more. Mr. Obama also holds a 75-point lead among Hispanic voters whose top issue is the division between the rich and poor, by 50 or more points among those who cite health care and immigration policies.

CONCENTRATE ON THE ECONOMY:

Romney fares 20 percentage points better than Mr. Obama among Hispanic voters who see the budget deficit as their No. 1 concern.

The above poll is confirmed by another poll:

Obama leads Romney among Hispanics in 5 key states

http://latino.foxnews.com/latino/politics/2012/06/22/obama-leads-romney-among-hispanics-in-5-key-states/

EXCERPT:

__________________________

President Barack Obama is leading likely Republican opponent Mitt Romney among Hispanic voters in the key electoral states of Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Nevada y Virginia, according to a survey released Friday.

The poll taken by Latino Decisions shows Obama with 53 percent support in Florida among Hispanics against 37 percent for Romney.

In the other states Obama’s lead is even greater: 74 percent against 18 percent in Arizona, 70 percent against 22 percent in Colorado, 69 percent against 20 percent in Nevada, and 59 percent against 28 percent in Virginia.

Averaging the results from all five states shows Obama in front of Romney among Hispanics by 63 percent to 27 percent, according to the survey, which was taken between June 12-21 among 2,000 Latino voters and has a margin of error of plus/minus 2.2 percent.

Part of the Democratic incumbent’s advantage “appears related” to his recent announcement temporarily suspending the deportations of hundreds of thousands of young undocumented immigrants, a measure that will particularly benefit Hispanics, according to Latino Decisions.

The survey also asked Latinos to quantify their level of enthusiasm about the upcoming November elections.

Sixty percent said they were “very enthusiastic” about the vote compared with just 47 percent in November 2011.

How many of the respondents are legal or have family members who are illegal? Obama is pandering to the invader and offering them the spoils of pillaging the US.

I don’t believe a word of it. Polls have become the most silly part of the campaigns these days.

If ‘economy’ means who will give out the most bennies then I’m afraid Obama will win this one.

I wonder what Mexico would do if 10-30 million Americans flooded their borders.
Wait, we could take over...hmmm

Obviously the poll didn’t include the following question:

“Do you support the policies of a President whose purported attempt to track U.S. weapons purchases resulted in the violent, savage deaths of 300+ Mexican citizens in addition to U.S. border guard Brian Terry?”

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Methinks the real reason for Mr. Ozero to issue this edict is to try to pad his Hispanic numbers ahead of Hispanics’ realization that scores of Mexicans were killed by F&F weapons.

I predict that Mr. Ozero loses half his Hispanic support once they tie him to 300 dead Mexicans.

The survey of a random sample of 1,753 adults between April 16 and May 31

This has no meaning regarding the election. Only polls of likely voters mean anything.

How many of those “hispanics” polled are illegal? 95% or 100%? Because the hispanics I know say no way to illegals. It’s not about race it’ about freakin’ jobs. Like here in New York city all you see are Mexicans doing construction, road work, bridge work. Unemployent hispanics who are here legally see that and it ticks them off as it does everyone else. If was an unemployed construction worker I’d be going batsht and they do judging by all the protests they have.

I believe every word of it. Why do you think democrats are flooding the USA withh illegal immigrants?

If hispanics voted 60% republican, democrats and the media would brand them as evil contemtible law breakers. There would be no where for them to hide.

I’m thinking their stated concerns about the economy is based on the need for a vibrant economy enticing millions more of Mexicans to flood our frontline states..

They also know demographics is destiny.

This should not be of any surprise, nor Republican’s Rubio amnesty ploy being pre-empted by Obama’s. Obama’s biggest worry was that these folks wouldnt vote this time, now he threw them a bone and they just might.

Post 2005 freepers do not know that we sure fought it out over this in the first half of 2000s

and the predominate stance here was that some path to citizenship was the route to go

and that latinos would vote GOP

because they are Catholic

those of us who said otherwise had to slog it out and present stats nobody cared about as we were branded racist

when we turned back Bush's amnesty attempt thru phone campaigns ...that was the turning point here

now...nationally ...and with SCOTUS asserting Fed sovereignty over states in this matter for the most part

i fear it's a fait accomnpli

if you have a Federal Government refusing to enforce immigration laws then States are limited in their ability to do something about it

even as Free Republic and white conservatives in general have become more informed and realistic about how most hispanics ..like Rubio...often vote minority self identity first

still hard to believe many here including quite a few early freepers thought amnesty was a good idea

problem is...not sure we can thwart it forever

and feds refusal to enforce laws is de facto amnesty anyhow

what has helped our side most is oddly...a bad economy and Mexico's birth rate and much less available pool of illegals there and elsewhere south
