Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said on Tuesday that his country, in the grips of an anti-regime uprising now in its 16th month, is in a real situation of war.
We are witnessing a real situation of war, the state news agency SANA quoted Assad as telling a meeting of the new Syrian cabinet.
However, he insisted that when one is in a state of war, all our policies and capabilities must be used to secure victory.
Meanwhile, AFP reported, the United States on Tuesday said that a desperate Assad was slowly losing his grip on power, citing recent defections of army officers and soldiers to neighboring Turkey and Jordan.

How you say in
Arabic ‘Toast”?
Assad is short-lived..
but what waits in the wings?
The Muslim Brotherhood and Middle East Caliphate.

Muslim nations breed and foment muslim terrorists.
Then act surprised when they get muslim terrorists.
Duh, boys.
Followed by the mass slaughter of the Alawites and the Christians.
This, Assad is better then the alternative.
Seems to be a normal situation in the mooselimb world these days.
It's quite the coincidence....
Nothing to see here, move along now. /s
“Are you ready for totaler kreig?”,the state news agency SANA quoted Assad as telling a meeting of the new Syrian cabinet.
“Yea, hail Victory!” they cheered.
Let’s see how Obama will spin this one! Anything bad for America is good for him, yes?
No Sh@t Assad. Perhaps you should have contemplated a little more before shooting down a TAF Recon F-4. The Turks have been itching for a reason to kick your a@@ for years because of Syrian support for the PKK......now they have it. And if your buds, the Iranians get in the way, they will mow them down like a power mower in short grass as well......Have a nice day.
What waits in the wings is this spilling into Iraq and then Iran.
Iran said it wanted a Caliphate. All these uprisings and Arab Spring hoe downs are hurting everyone but Iran.
The Kurds declaring a state in the middle of Iran/Iraq/Syria and Turkey might be the worst thing that could happen. Someone will have to stop them and the winner of that would then have a foothold in 4 countries.
Oh, did I mention we are no longer a fighting force there?
Coincidence??????
That appears to be a veiled threat to use his vast quantities of biological and chemical WMD.
He better think that through very carefully as well. The Turks have NATO allocated nukes, and techically would be authorized to use them in the event of a biological and chemical attack. The Turks will be shaking hands with the Israelis at the Golan Heights if Assad is that stupid.
Assad is far from pro-US, but he has protected the Syrian Christians from the jihadists. In return the Christians have supported him. If he falls and is replaced by another jihadist nutjob, it will be very bad for the Christians there.
That is true, the nukes are at Incirlik, according to Wiki....which means the nukes are probably not at Incirlik. I worked in Diyarbakir for two years...look that one up....;)
Don't screw with the Turks....;)
I've seen that posted many times....so I have to ask. How many Christians are in Turkiye?
In the Muslim world, the Turks are probably the group you’d least would want to mess with.
Wikipedia puts the number at approximately 75,000.
God help us if islamists take over Syria.
I think that answer responds to a questions about the number of Christians in Turkey? The more direct issue and danger is the approximately 2.5 million Christians in Syria who would be subject to whatever the Muslim Brotherhood wants if Assad falls.
Yes. About what I saw as well. Many don't know how revered in Turkey the Christian Churches are.....or how many...
"Christianity has a long history in Anatolia (now part of the Republic of Turkey), which is the birthplace of numerous Christian Apostles and Saints, such as Paul of Tarsus, Timothy, Nicholas of Myra, Polycarp of Smyrna and many others.
Two out of the five centers (Patriarchates) of the ancient Pentarchy are in Turkey: Constantinople (Istanbul) and Antioch (Antakya). Antioch was also the place where the followers of Jesus were called "Christians" for the first time in history, as well as being the site of one of the earliest and oldest surviving churches, established by Saint Peter himself. For a thousand years, the Hagia Sophia was the largest church in the world.
Turkey is also home to the Seven Churches of Asia, where the Revelations to John were sent. Apostle John is reputed to have taken Virgin Mary to Ephesus in western Turkey, where she spent the last days of her life in a small house, known as the House of the Virgin Mary, which still survives today and has been recognized as a holy site for pilgrimage by the Catholic and Orthodox churches, as well as being a Muslim shrine. The cave of the Seven Sleepers is also located in Ephesus.
All of the first seven Ecumenical Councils which are recognized by both the Western and Eastern churches were held in present-day Turkey. Of these, the Nicene Creed, declared with the First Council of Nicaea (İznik) in 325, is of utmost importance and has provided the essential definitions of present-day Christianity.
Today the Christian population of Turkey includes an estimated 45,000 Armenian Orthodox[1], 17,000 Syriac Orthodox, 8,000 Chaldean Catholic, 3,000-4,000 Greek Orthodox[2], and smaller numbers of Bulgarians, Georgians, and Protestants."
I didn't know the muslim brotherhood was in control of Turkiye. Please link some proof....
You might want to read this report.

Muslims have no reverence or respect for anything.
“You might want to read this report.”
Seen it. A few radicals board a boat. Big news. Like Occupy Wallstreet. Here’s bigger news.....from 2009. Get a clue.
Agreed. And I agree on your tagline. (I have and 2012 SVT Cobra in addition to friends and ammunition.)
Your ignorance of Turkiye is only overshadowed by your stupiity of all things military...
P.S. Muslims are destructive, murderous pigs. They will pretend to be harmless until they have enough numbers and then YOU will be their slave.
The Russians... on their way to help re-stabilize this Islamic State of Syria with their Marines. Assad may be short-lived, but the Neo-Soviets and other Communist allies won’t let Syria actually be free...
Odd bedfellows all over the place.. now smack dab in the middle of the stew.
Some say it is where Hitler got the the idea.
Why does it seem like we are on the bring of - well everything. From politics - economics - weather - it just seems like things are all coming together now for something really big. But what? Can all of this be a coincidence of sorts?
Those weree population exchanges. Millions of muslims lived in the balkans and in greece. Take a look at the balkan wars. Those who didn’t escape the balkans were killed. After WW1 there were population exchanges. Don’t let them play you.
It’s all coming to a head. The chickens are coming home to roost. The pigs have finally learned to fly. And soon, father Christmas will shoot his wad.
Too bad you didn’t comprehend the report and the role of the Muslim Brotherhood in Turkey.
The Arimean massacre was not a population exchange.
>>The Arimean massacre was not a population exchange.
It certainly wasn’t.
