WASHINGTON (AP) — Now that the politically potent National Rifle Association is keeping score, some Democrats may join House Republicans if there’s a vote to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress in a dispute over documents related to a botched gun-tracking operation.

The chief Democratic House head counter, Rep. Steny Hoyer of Maryland, declined to tell reporters how many defections he expected, but acknowledged that some in his party would consider heeding the NRA’s call for a “yes” vote.

The only way Dems will vote for it is if it is going to pass anyway and they are just providing political cover

This is awesome news. I’m sure that some of the delay on this was to make sure that they would have some Dem votes for the contempt charge.

You can bet Steny will vote whichever way Nancy Pelosi tells him to.

But Steny has a chance of being whipped this year too. Last year Lollar gave him a rune for his money and made a fool of him at every debate they had. Only the Blacks in PG and Upper Charles County saved him.

This year he faces O’Donnell and O’Donnell has a following.
Lollar is saving himself for the Governorship I believe.

Isn't it a simple majority vote? That should make it close to a sure thing. Unless there are a number of Republicans yearning to be tarred and feathered.

How about the GOA (Gun Owners of America) which was formed in 1975. Many NRA Members, who have gotten fed up with the NRA, for various reasons, have joined the GOA. They need to make their presence known on this matter as well.

Anyone else catch this little gem: The gun owners association injected itself last week into the stalemate...

Injected? CBS just couldn't let a story about the NRA go by without some kind of cheap shot.

Numerous Congressmen and Senators (like Joe Manchin of WV) have stated they are NOT attending the Dem Convention in NC in September. Also, the Gov. of WV is declining to go and be associated with Obama. The latest to announce as a will be “no show” is U.S. Senator Clair McCaskill of Missouri and the State’s Gov. Jay Dixon; who is also up for reelection this year and wants to disassociate himself from Obama. Rats deserting a sinking ship comes to mind.

And, to think: Claire McCaskill was “in love” with Obama his first two years in office. I told everybody, she was his “girlfriend”. She looked at him with adoring eyes and defended his every bone-head move. What a difference one little reelection campaign makes. But, Claire is going to get her butt handed to her on Election Day.

Ahhhh....Good old SeeBS. Its not about truth or doing THE RIGHT THING.

Its about keeping allegiance with THEIR party.

While I have had a 50 year love-hate relationship with the NRA, I do like how they get the attention of politicians of both parties on important issues.
