Gov. Brewer: Obama Administration Tells Ariz. to 'Drop Dead'

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer angrily denounced the Obama administration’s decision Monday to strip the state’s police agencies of special immigration arrest powers, saying it was like telling the state to “drop dead” in the aftermath of the Supreme Court decision upholding a key provision of Arizona’s immigration law.

“I was shocked. I was outraged. I thought, you know, this is politics at its best,” Brewer told Fox News’s Greta Van Susteren in an interview Monday night.

“It’s just unconscionable. What they said to Arizona is: ‘Drop dead, Arizona, drop dead, and go away. We’re going to ignore you,’” the Republican added, suggesting the action by the Department of Homeland Security was prompted by the court’s ruling that upheld the state’s right to stop and question a person’s immigration status.

Brewer said the decision by Homeland to rescind the joint arrest agreement, known as 287g—which essentially deputizes state and local police to detain illegal immigrants—would also affect the state’s ability to use federal data bases to help “verify” illegal immigrants. …

I think “drop dead” is a polite euphemism for what Obama and Holder are really saying to Gov. Brewer and Arizona...

My advise to Brewer, quit whining and retaliate. There has to be some moves that she can make as an executive to make the Feds operating in Arizona feel the pinch. She could order that Arizona State law enforcement officers quit working with the Feds, she could gum up permits for construction of Federal buildings, close roads to Federal reservations, etc. Do something of STFU.

Little barry bastard commie has cancelled fed rights to act in law enforcement in AZ, so if one does so they should be promptly arrested. And they should not be allowed to go armed among the public unless they have an AZ carry permit On Their Person At All Times. The federal licence tags should be nullified, and federal regulators are no longer operating in federal jurisdictions in AZ. The fool in the White Hut has created a two-way street, which is typical to his stupidity as an affirmative action hire far beyond his capabilities, unaware of the consequences of his temper tantrum rule over America.

I agree. Personally, I’d like to see her load state buses up with illegals, and back them up to the border and push them out.

You are working from the assumption that the current Federal government is interested in doing good things in Arizona. Do you have any facts to support this wild theory? /s

IMO, the only thing that Arizona can do (that would be effective) is to reduce the stream of money that goes to IRS. If the Feds aren't doing their primary job (the defense) then why to pay them?

This, of course, will escalate the conflict and may eventually lead to dissolution of the USA. When the federal government openly abuses member states and refuses to do what the law tells it to do, the states should be free to walk away from such an abuse.

This should be the basis for a lawsuit. How would the Supremes rule?

She could start looking into charges against the BATF for conspiring to arm criminal aliens in her state.

I think she needs to do something subtle, like shutting off gas and electric to the federal buildings, then denying any knowledge thereof, and launching an investigation therein, accompanied by profuse apologies and assurances etc. Then maybe they might come back on in a couple of days.

Might be tough to do, eh? You’d need cooperation down the line. Well, this is the way it’s going to shape up.

So, Ms. Brewer, I guess it wasn’t such a big win after all. I can’t believe it never crossed her mind that obama would pull this.

A cop pulls over a guy for no tail lights. He gives him a ticket then checks his status and the guy is illegal PLUS he’s wanted on some minor felony charge. The cop can’t hold him and the feds don’t want him. The guy should be escorted to the state border and pushed across. Then tell the feds what was done.

Load buses up with caught Cartel members.

Drop them off with their fast and furious weapons in Malibu, and In front of the homes of DNCers and celbes across the nation.

Give them a taste of border life.

What can Arizona do?

Let’s remember that most of the guns involved in the Fast and Furious scheme were sold in Arizona. Perhaps there were violations of state laws by individuals involved? Holder and Obama are disavowing that they authorized any of it, so the bit players are exposed to proscecution.

Arizona should begin to arrest individuals involved, and of course, urge them to give up their superiors, and so on, up the chain of command. We all know some of the players were not totally on board with this, and being arrested gives them a plausible reason to talk. If they claim they were just following orders, whose orders?

While Issa is attempting top-down disclosure, Arizona could be pinching from the bottom up.

I had an “apologist” tell me last night, that the Homeland Security cut off Arizona because it isn’t prepared to handle the volume of calls Arizona will generate. Budget you know. It would make the queue too long. Seriously, someone in the MSM is handing that out as an excuse.

Pick them up and bus them all to DC. Drop them off in front of the White House.
