Surviving one of the toughest re-election fights of his career, Representative Charles B. Rangel fended off four challengers on Tuesday to win the Democratic nomination for a 22nd term in Congress.
Im just glad that my community has faith and confidence in me, Mr. Rangel told reporters shortly before declaring victory at Sylvias, the famed Harlem restaurant.
Mr. Rangels victory capped a gripping campaign for a Congressional seat that for decades has been at the center of black political power and preserved a career in Washington that had been threatened by ethics troubles and changing demographics.
Mr. Rangel was censured in 2010 after the House Ethics Committee found him guilty of 11 counts of ethical violations, including failure to pay taxes, improper solicitation of donations and failure to report his personal income accurately.
And because of the decennial redistricting process, Mr. Rangel, who turned 82 this month and had been slowed by back problems, was forced to run in a district that had been extended from Harlem into the Bronx, giving its population a Hispanic majority.

Which has the stupidest people in their district: Rangel, Schultz or Pelosi?
Corrupt politicians are harder to get rid of than a severe case of the crabs.
That kind of stinks that he held on, but at least the extremely racist Charles Barron was defeated in Brooklyn.
I think his opponent is still a stinking liberal but still, not a crazy hater.
Sheila Jackson Fleas wins that distinction for her constituency down in TX.
As long as this idiot can keep getting his idiot constituency money they will vote for him. It is all about the money.
Nothing but a bunch of ignoramus’s in Rangel’s district. But then again, there’s a lot of the same ignoramus’s in my state as well. Thankfully, I’m not one of them.
I just love it when Democratic agents continue to support him regardless of friends that continue to support him regardless of this proven illegal activity.
Ah, but there in lies the problem! He can NOT be convicted of anything because he is a Senator! It matters not whether he broke the law, matters not whether he rented rooms at limited price, makes no matter whether he actually paid taxes, come on, he is a Senator!
You stupid folks that continue to support him are just that, STUPID! I’m ashamed to say that most of you are also racists in that you support him regardless of his legal problems... Yes, that is the true form of racism!
Sorry, not meant at you but about the ignorance of the left...sorry if that came across as such. Reading it later was the problem.
I'll take your word for it.

But here's other evidence of his speaking at the event:
"Among the many speakers were elected representativesU.S. Rep. Charles Rangel and New York City Council members Charles Barron and Margarita Lopezwho have bucked their party to come out against the war. Barron has also introduced a Troops Out Now resolution in the City Council."--Workers World Party

"Dear Comrade Kim Jong Il...
With his leadership [Kim Il Sung], the Korean people defeated the Japanese colonial occupation and soon after brought about the first defeat of the U.S. imperialist military machine. ...

Also speaking at the rally above was communist attorney/terrorist defender, Lynne Stewart. The event marked the 2nd anniversary of the start of the Iraq war (March 19, 2005).

JOE GARCIA AND HIS CORRUPT, PRO-CASTRO FRIEND CHARLIE RANGEL (D-NY):
"Rangel is an avowed admirer of the former Cuban President Fidel Castro. In April 1993, the congressman introduced legislation to repeal the Cuban Democracy Act of 1992, which ended U.S. assistance to the Castro government, and to lift the American embargo against Cuba. When Castro toured Harlem in October of 1995, Rangel greeted him with a bear hug at an event in a local church, where the congressman joined in a prolonged standing ovation for the visiting dictator."
Maxine Waters is right up there.
Her constituents mark the absentee ballots with an “X”.
Then they go to the polls and vote again.
You can include the majority of Massachusetts voters, too, as well as all of the other “bluest of blue” political areas of the U.S. and U.S. territories.
The day he leaves office his district falls to the bottom of seniority and then they can all go jump in the Hudson River.. Fortunately the GOP is holding the house.
But wasn’t he still guaranteed a spot on the ballot in November with Working Families line?
Gotta put Maxine Waters` district up there as well.
When the people of the District are corrupt, so will be their Representative. Really, nothing new here.
