In the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court’s summary reversal of the Montana Supreme Court decision on corporate spending in elections, Montana’s governor and lieutenant governor say the fight isn’t over.

Gov. Brian Schweitzer and Lt. Gov. John Bohlinger took their bipartisan message to YouTube yesterday, saying “Republicans and Democrats don’t always agree on policy matters, but there’s one thing we do agree on, and that is corporate money should not influence the outcome of an election.”

Gov. Schweitzer added, “We’re going to overrule the Supreme Court with a constitutional amendment, to make it clear that we the people are in charge of America, not we the corporations. Here in Montana, we’re putting it on the ballot.”

He just doesn’t like the competition. So, maybe I try to find a corporation to help get a message out.

Hey Gov, why don’t you just issue an executive order to override the Supreme’s decision? Seems like a popular resolution to laws that you don’t like.

If corporations pay taxes then they should have a voice. Since the liberals like taxing business so much then they have to put up with business demanding representation.

corporate money should not influence the outcome of an election

But union money, foundation money and government-spent money should, apparently.

I hate it when repulsive, self-interested grandstanding is disguised as selfless civic highmindedness.

The folks in Montana don't like big government or big corporations telling them anything let alone how to vote.

We have had a law that worked well for 100 years and having the USSC pushing themselves and Federal Government down our throats is something most folks here resent.

I suspect the politicians well quickly find its to their advantage to run against the out of state PAC’s.
