keep reminding people that arson is a terrorist threat that has been issued and re-issued and noted in various intelligence reports

could be the perfect crime

"I live near a shooting range and I’ve never seen it happen."

I OWN a shooting range and I’ve never seen it happen. (...and that includes the rare times when I haven't kept the place mowed like a lawn...)

Millions of hunters here in Michigan and we haven’t managed to burn the state down yet.

Partially burned powder in the muzzle flash, particularly from a shotgun round, hitting dry grass can start a fire.

Don't ask me how I know.

About the only way to set a fire with a lead bullet is either at very close range, in effect setting the fire with the propellant behind the bullet, or theoretically at least, hitting a silicon crystalline rock in such a way as to make it spark off itself. In a volatile medium.

If you took a metal gas can, poured a half cup of gasoline in it, then shook it up to partially vaporize it, then shot it with a gun from further than 1’, you would just put a hole through either side of the can.

Long time listener, infrequent commenter.

For decades I went without any fires. 3 years ago at the
range just off the 39 north of LA, a fire was started
with my M1 firing steel core ammo.

We called a halt and got right on it and put the fire
out.

I had ordered the ammo for that event, specifying no
steel cores. But I had not used a magnet to check the
rounds. Apparently Lake City sent the wrong stuff.

“I thought it was the condors who were bullet hungry, please don’t tell me the eagles are doing it too!”

Yes, I'm afraid so. Isn't nature amazing. These birds instinctively know that their martyrdom will bring about
social change and big grant money.

Cover story to hide the obvious. Jihadists are simply carrying out what they were ordered to do.

Ding...Ding....Ding!

WE HAVE A WINNER!

No way DHS could admit jihadists were busy setting fires in the US when they are busy pursuing the 'bitter clingers' and letting the EPA send drones out to catch the odd cow whizzing in a creek.
