Back in 2005, the dems and the MSM pilloried Bush and "Brownie" for alleged lackadaisical response to Katrina. The bad optics of Bush being at Crawford during an immense natural disaster caused his approval numbers to plummet, and the dems kept piling on, even as the the administration mounted one of the impressive air rescues in history.
Now, the front range is alight and hundreds, maybe thousands of homes are being torched near Colorado Springs and elsewhere in the west while a fleet of air tankers seriously depleted by Odumbo (http://monkeywrenchingamerica.com/?p=1412) struggles to help contain the blazes and, meanwhile, Odumbo holds megadollar fundraisers with Hollywood celebs and golfs. WHERE IS THE ROMNEY CAMPAIGN? Mitt should be holding pressers from downtown Colorado Springs, with smoke billowing up behind him, and the GOP in the house should be holding hearings focusing on why the feds were have depleted our wildfire fighting capability under Obama.
At this point I don;t even care who it is
but someone....SOMEONE...from our national leadership ought to be out there expressing the compassion and reassurance of our nation for the extreme suffering and fear among tens of thousands of Colorado residents
That is what LEADERS do
Mittens, Sarah, or...
He won’t do a damned thing unless it’s politically expedient.
No surprise. In 2010 Obama took a lackadaisical approach to the oil spill in the Gulf (but used it to make it harder to drill) and the press gave him a pass. If Bush were President now they’d expect him to be in Colorado with a fire hose helping one of the crews.
Forest Service lawsuits from by environmentalists brought on part of this — no road building, no logging, no thinning of small trees, no harvest of pine beetle killed trees. And after the fires no salvage of burned trees leaving them there to accumulate until the next hot, dry season occurs. Romney could argue healthy forests would prevent these disasters, irrespective of whether he believes the cause was drought caused by us nasty industrialized humans.
Interestingly, the exact text of your “article” can be found on this blog:

Isn’t that an amazing coincidence?
When Gore was running for office, many showed up at his event with flip-flops or in flip-flop costumes , maybe obama should be followed by toga wearing obama lookalike playing the Fiddle with flames all around him.
At least he didn’t link to it; you did!
Or flying with the crew of one of the C-130 tankers
Damn sure Bush would be there crying with those poor people who are losing everything in the twinkling of an eye, not golfing or playing “gimme cash to assauge your white rasist guilt” with the 1%
STOP BLOG PIMPING!!!
That is wild. Diogenes post even has my “were have” typo in the last paragraph. I posted my comment at 9:54, Diogenes was at 9:58 - the blogger obviously just copied mine and posted it!
I don’t really care - at this point I just wanted to scream from the hightest roof that someone in the Romney campaign needs to be capitalizing on this NOW, and if bloggers want to copy it and post it, so much the better. They just ought to fix my typos and grammatical slipups first, I would think.
Wrongney is cowering somewhere, waiting for a blue-ribbon panel of advisors to tell him whether he should address the issue and if so, how it will poll with illegal aliens.
At the time of my post, it would have impossible to link to the Diogenes post - it didn't yet exist. I posted my comment at 9:54; Diogenes apparently copied (without attribution to a FR post) my post - complete with a proofreading lapse in the last paragraph - at 9:58; and Humblegunner posted his comment on the "amazing coincidence" at 10:02.
No worries, as far as I'm concerned. The more the merrier if the word get to the Romney camp.
I have seen references in the media to threatened areas as “affluent” “upscale neighborhoods” the perception is these are rich folk that are being burned out so it is no concern. I guess it doesn’t occur to people that people live in pockets and “rich” areas are not that far from middle class and poor people. Oh well we aren’t to worry about the middle class either. I don’t believe the fire knows how much people have in the bank.
Leftists see events like these as opportunities rather than tragedies. The worse things get the greater the opportunity for government intervention.
