Rasmussen Reports ^

Mitt Romney's support is up in Arizona following the U.S. Supreme Court decision overturning several provisions of the state's law cracking down on illegal immigration and the Obama administration's announcement that it will not process additional illegals arrested there.

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in Arizona shows Romney with 54% support to President Obama's 41%. Three percent (3%) prefer some other candidate, while two percent (2%) remain undecided.

Hussein has declared war on Arizona.

The people of Arizona will have their chance to fight back in November.

Hussein will not win this engagement.

Not a surprise....Arizona is red as can be...they even went Red in 1964 Goldwater race when only a few states went for him. Arizona never has to be worried about in a Presidential race for Republicans.

Arizonans, that is legal Arizonans have realized the obummer administration is at war with the state. I can't imagine anything more polarizing that obummers actions regarding SB 1070 and Fast and Furious.

Our safety and our sovereignty have been thrown out by obummer as he prostitutes himself for the hispanic votes.

Newsflash: The hispanic votes are largely his already. What he has done is alienate white middle class working people that were traditionally demoncrats.

A thirteen point lead in Arizona is encouraging news for Romney at this point. Remember that McCain won AZ by 9 points in 2008 so Romney is on track to outperform McCain in McCain’s home state.

Interesting. Obama is acting like he doesn’t care what the outcome of the election will be so . . .
He either doesn’t want a second term or he will find a way to invalidate the electoral votes if he fails to reach 270. I know he definately wants a second term.

I tend to believe what I read here, but don’t understand how they can be so different.

Help me understand so I can effectively argue please.

Well looks the AA Hire is about to get his walking papers, his numbers in Ohio, Va, NC, Ind look downright grim, those states are over. Florida looks like a goner as does Co, Nevada, Iowa, Wisconsin and probably Michigan. THat means the election is over. We don’t need voter fraud bonanzas like NM ans PA. Could be a very bad year for black candidates in tight districts, America is in a sour moood and in the “We tried them, we did not like them...” mode, this year the NAACP types may have something to bitch about black+liberal = incompetant.

Putting my tin foil “conspiratorial” hat on for a moment, with this government and all the corruption and true conspiracy theories happening....it crosses my mind, that maybe the puppet is TRYING to muck things up so Romney gets in. I mean, the GOP-E did push Romney on us, as our “only electable” candidate against Obama. So, maybe they want him in, so he’ll finish the job (properly) for the Progressive NWO elites? You have to think that all the crap Obama has pulled, those elites HAVE to be tired and pissed that he’s done so much to wake us all up...SO FAST.

But maybe not. Maybe after all, since he is VERY arrogant and the most narcissistic egomaniac I’ve ever witnessed in my lifetime, it could very well be he’s just doing what he’s always done.....made it about HIM, irregardless of the consequences.

I just don’t know what to think anymore. Who is behind who’s intentions? Why does Obama do the things he does...? For himself? For the elite puppet masters (ie Soros, Rockefellers, Rothschilds, et al)? Is Romney part of their plan now?

So many conspiracies....so little time left. Not sure what to believe anymore.

Sample size
Likely, Registered, Eligible
Questions asked
Phrasing
Randomness
Weighting

So much else down to time of day.

Thanks for the reply. I understand it all except “weighting”. Does this mean pollsters actually ask certain groups to get a desired response?

Also- does anyone know which polls are the most accurate at election time? I enjoy Rasmussen analysis but don’t know of they are considered more accurate.

Finally- it seems to me that MSNBC and others ALWAYS skew polls to fit their hopes rather than an actual snapshot of the electorate. Pathetic.

Actually, I agree! Romney is going to be a non Republican or at the least a non Conservative. Compared to Obama, he will be the savior though! That is a shame during this Tea Party time, but anyone is better than Obama.

I do hope that he is malleable though and will take some Conservative ideas to heart. If not, there is always 2016 to correct the issue. Too bad that both can’t happen at the same time but with the far left agenda, anything right of Obama will be appreciated. I do fear a softening of the illegal immigrant issue though since it has become such a battle for votes - not right or wrong, just about political agendas...too bad for America there...

In a survey, certain groups have a greater weight based on their numbers in a population. If 2 out of 3 people are peanut butter eaters, then it’s not fair to ask America’s opinion of peanut butter sandwiches but only include in the results those who hate peanut butter.

You can ask a thousand people who hate peanut butter if they like PBJ’s, and you’ll get what predetermined picture of love for PBJ’s in America?

Let’s say that you’re randomly calling, though, and you get a 1000 responses and one half of those who were willing to respond were peanut butter haters. To find out a true picture of PBJ lovers in America, you’d have to make sure 2/3 of the sample were peanut butter eaters.

Just because you’re a PB eater doesn’t mean you’re a PBJ lover.

Similarly, if you know that 1/3 of Americans claim to be Republican voters, then it’s not going to produce accurate results to ask an opinion of Obama in a survey with only 1/10 of the respondents claiming to be republican.

Yeah, but can’t you give Minnesota a break? Why should they get the 1972 Massachusetts award?

Amy Klobuchar, Al Franken, Kieth Ellison, Mark Dayton, in 2000, minorities made up 10.6 percent of the populationfrom and in 2010 minorities accounted for more than 80 percent of the state's growth and now make up about one of every seven state residents, farmers dependent upon government subsidies, taxpayers funding for Minnesota teachers to attend 'White Privilege' conference, the University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) supporting an ad campaign aimed toward reaching “racial justice through raising awareness about “white privilege” in society and last but not least . . . the Minneapolis RED Star/Tribune.

Need I say more?

You have to “look under the hood” so to speak .... get into the sampling data. Often, you will find polls are weighted toward Democrats (they sample more Dems) .... surprise!/NOT. Anyway, Ed Morrissey on Hot Air is really good at digging out the data on polls and explaining what is what .... here is a recent example:

http://hotair.com/archives/2012/06/27/dueling-polls-obama-lead-narrowing-or-expanding-in-ohio/

Hope this helps.

“Interesting. Obama is acting like he doesn’t care what the outcome of the election will be so . . .”

It will just be a changing of the globalist guard. Hussein probably wants to go on speaking tours like Clinton did, and would rather get some UN gig. Meanwhile, the powers that be will move ahead with the same agendas and many conservatives will go back to sleep.

A liberal H.S. classmate of mine lives in Arizona now and keeps claiming that Hispanics are all gonna vote RAT in droves and the state is “in play” for Obama. I told him he’s wrong but he’s a RAT official in Arizona now so I hope convinces Obama to pour plenty of money down the drain trying to win AZ (especially with Obama struggling to win Gore/Kerry states like Michigan, Wisconsin, etc. ). It would be hilarious if Romney does better than McCain in AZ on election day.

>> Arizona is now considered a swing state because of the huge influx of Hispanics. <<

Every election, Democrats delude themselves into thinking Arizona is "in play" because of the "huge influx of Hispanics" and Republicans delude themselves into thinking that the Jewish vote is "in play" because of the Democrats anti-Israel policies. Both sides are wasting their time trying to win over those constituencies but keep trying it election cycle after election when they get buried by the other side.

Obama could call for Isreal to be wiped off the map and he'd still win a majority of the "Jewish vote" (probably closer to 60%). A lot of Jews are secular or nonpracticing, as well as ultra liberal on domestic issues, and would vote for Adolf Hitler if he promised them a bunch of socialist goodies.

Likewise, Obama can do all the "outreach" he wants to drum out the "Hispanic vote", a lot of the "Hispanic community" isn't even 18 yet so they'd have to vote illegally just to support him (not that I wouldn't put it past Obama to try that). He can get 100% of them to vote for him in AZ, it won't make a difference because the non-hispanic whites in AZ are overwhelmingly against Obama and they make up the majority of voters. It's like trying to beat Bobby Rush in y congressional district by getting the white suburbs to vote agianst him. He could lose the white areas overwhelmingly and still carry the district handily.

“He can get 100% of them to vote for him in AZ, it won’t make a difference because the non-hispanic whites in AZ are overwhelmingly against Obama and they make up the majority of voters.”

You should check your math. If Obama truly got 100% of the Hispanic vote, and Hispanic turnout was about what it was in 2008, Obama definitely would carry AZ. White Anglos in AZ do vote Republican, but they are not as overwhelmingly Republican as you think (lots of liberal whites in Phoenix, Tucson and Flagstaff), and Native Americans are a fairly large, and overwhelmingly Democrat, sector.

But Obama won’t come close to 100% of the Hispanic vote in AZ—he’ll likely top out at 70%—and Romney should carry the state handily.

As for the Jewish vote, I don’t think that it is as unachievable for the GOP as you assume. Remember, the GOP doesn’t need to win a majority of the Jewish vote to beat the Democrats; if the GOP got, say, 40% of the Jewish vote, FL would become a safe GOP state, OH, NV, MI, WI, PA and NJ would lean GOP, and CT, IL and maybe even CA and NY would be in play.

And, yes, 40% of the Jewish vote is doable—ask Bob Turner. While Orthodox Jewish voters are a smaller percentage of the Jewish vote outside of NY, getting to 40% won’t take that big of a jump.

Arizona has 4.5 million people. Of these, 57.4% are white non-hispanic while 30.1% are hispanic. Have your HS buddy explain how his voting turnout math favors obummer.

Rush has been predicting it for months as well. Once this whole “Fast and Furious” thing explodes tomorrow along with the health care thing, it’s going to illicit a “wait...Obama did WHAT?” moment in America that will give Republicans a huge majority. The problem then will be keeping them in line.
