A federal judge has refused to stop Florida from removing potentially non-U.S. citizens from its rolls.

The U.S. Department of Justice sued the state to halt the purge, arguing it was going on too close to a federal election.

U.S. District Judge Robert Hinkle said Wednesday that there was nothing in federal voting laws that prevent the state from identifying non-U.S. citizens even if it comes less...

Agreed, at last a bit of common sense from a judge.

I know there are plenty of folks who imagine that Obama and his AG Holder are devious and conniving but I think they re simply stupid.

Radical leaders criminally insane. They are not stupid. Their useful idiots are stupid. Obama and Holder think they stand on the high moral ground and any means justifies the ends on behalf of their power. They would kill you just as soon as look at you.

Thank God for our courts. On some days I think the courts (at least certain ones) are all that stands between us and tyranny.

Now if the Supremes will just do the right thing tomorrow...

They are indeed devious and conniving but they are anything but stupid. They have planned the destruction of this country and the GOPe is doing all it can to help them, we are the stupid ones for thinking they are not, else Romney would not be the nominee.

This is an important development … in 2000 the Florida margin in Bush v. ALGORE was only 537 votes

Send Gov. Scott an email showing your support

“If the effect of the NVRA (Motor Voter) is to force a state to allow never-eligible non-citizens the opportunity to vote,” he wrote, “then the statute might violate the Equal Protection Clause of the Constitution, which guarantees that the right to vote cannot be denied by a dilution of the weight of a citizen’s vote.”

As for the Voting Rights Act claim, Detzner wrote, Florida already received federal permission to remove noncitizens, which is clearly spelled out in Florida law.

What’s more, the Voting Rights Act applies to only five Florida counties — Monroe, Hillsborough, Collier, Hardee and Hendry — and not the other 62 in Florida, including Miami-Dade, where about 1,600 of the 2,700 potential noncitizens were initially identified by the state in a database created by the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.

About 500 people in Miami-Dade have been found to be lawful citizens and voters, and 13 noncitizens have been found. Two of them might have voted and could face prosecution. The county has been unable to verify the citizenship of more than 1,100 others.

Assuming the purge halts, those people could vote this year — even if some are noncitizens.

"Not a single eligible voter as far, as I know, has been removed from the voter rolls," Scott said Wednesday on WNDB radio in Daytona Beach, according to a News Service of Florida transcript. "Not one. And we’re working to keep it that way."

"Their vote should not be diluted by people who don’t have the right to vote," Scott said. "We need to be reviewing our voter rolls and making sure only those individuals who have the right to vote … are voting."

“This hardly seems like an approach earnestly designed to protect the integrity of elections and to ensure that eligible voters have their votes counted,” said the letter, written by Scott’s hand-picked secretary of state, Ken Detzner, a fellow Republican.

Detzner also submitted a list of four questions that he wants the DOJ to answer:

LETTER HERE

Keys election chief: I'm done purging voter rolls

Just as several Reagan, Bush 41 and even Bush 43 Supreme appointees have turned out to be less Constitutionalist than had been hoped and/or assumed; this appears to be one of Slick Willie’s district court appointees who went opposite to commie lib expectations just this once. Hey! Don’t WE get to win one ONCE IN A WHILE?

When I used to be an election judge we were told there was? Anyway Ohio purges their voter rolls on the off year elections. If you haven’t voted in the past 4 years on the 5th year you are purged. So in 2009 they purged and next year they all again.

read the article, it was not needed because the state has stopped purging. The local supervisors of elections are not purging either.

“The Obama/Holder crime team lost this one.”

Bull pucky. 0 Has castrated the law enforcement efforts in Arizona and any attempt to do anything in the way of enforcement will result in 0 nationalizing the National Guard. That will be the one thing he needs to suspend the Constitution. IOW, he will have a dictatorship.

Its a rhetorical question but how does purging the voter rolls of people who haven’t voted in the past 4 years help us get rid of illegitimate voters?

-Blames motor voter fraud.

What does the DOJ mean to close to an election. Illegals are directly involved which they shouldn’t be.

“How terrifying.”

Your snide comment indicates you think the ruling does NOT indicate as I posted. Well, your inability to analyze doesn't alter reality.

Florida better hurry up with the purge before the case gets to the Supreme Court and that sick piece of sh** Roberts helps the rats stop it.
