if the mandate is upheld as a tax,
and
if Congress can impose taxes,
does that mean that a simple vote repealing the tax would kill Obamacare?
So states can’t help enforce the laws of the land, but the government can force you to engage in commerce. We have no freedoms at all left.

If you consider Roberts’ argument, you could say that he slapped Obama in the face in this respect: Obama insisted the mandate was not a tax.
The court says he lied.
This proves people have lost control over their government. It’s all in the hands of power players. Do you really believe that these justices were not under immense pressure from behind the scenes — threats intimidation cajoling bribes etc — and the timid one, Roberts, caved. The power players have invested billions and billions into this brave new world enterprise. You think they would leave it in the hands of 9 people to decide THEIR FATE??? The only hope left is ballot box, and there too it is going to get harder and harder, except that next election we still have a chance — I believe, I hope.

Its obvious that those in power now have the ability to keep themselves in power and enrich themselves personally by fiat. Its further obvious that the idiots that put them in power not only approve of it but actually work hard for it. It won't matter. The fact that a mandate has been ruled Constitutional means that America is no longer worth fighting for.

They ruled that the individual mandate requiring us all to buy insurance is unconstitutional...and that should be the end of it. BAck to Congress to change, fix it, or shelve the whole thing.
But, no. They then (it sounds like) unilaterally and unconstitutionally took it upon themselves to basically re-write the legislation and call that mandate a tax and then say “now it is ok, proceed.”
How can the US SUPREME COURT WRITE ANY LEGISLATION?
Answer: They can’t. It would be unconstitutional.
The Congress writes laws. So with what the legislation clearly called a mandate to buy ruled unconstititonal, it should go back to congress to alter it into a tax...WHICH WOULD NEVERY PASS THE CONGRESS RIGHT NOW.
I am shocked and severely disappointed in Roberts. They are (if this interpretation is correct) writing legislation from the bench which is not within their power to do.
I guess we’ll see what it all means, but that’s how I am reading it now and it is very disappointing if that is correct.

It's all over when the Supreme Court makes decisions based on politics and ideology instead of on the Constitution.
The fact that a mandate has been ruled Constitutional means that America is no longer worth fighting for.This country will always be worth fighting for. I will always fight for the ideal it has always represented and the unprecedented role in human history it has played. We need to somehow fix this country as it's foundations have been compromised.
So if it was 5-4 to throw out obamacare then it’s a political court. 5-4 to keep it the libs will say it’s a solid ruling by a just court.
