Republican governors are planning to ignore the Supreme Court's decision Thursday to uphold Obamacare hoping that the issue will drive voters to dump President Obama in favor of Mitt Romney who has vowed to kill the Affordable Care Act.
After the decision, the Republican Governors Association said that nothing should be done by the states until after the election, a clear signal that they believe a GOP president, House and Senate will kill the health care reform pushed through by Democrats and opposed by Republicans.
RGA Chairman Bob McDonnell said, "Today's ruling crystallizes all that's at stake in November's election. The only way to stop Barack Obama's budget-busting health care takeover is by electing a new president. Barack Obama's health care takeover encapsulates his presidency: Obamacare increases taxes, grows the size of government and puts bureaucrats over patients while doing nothing to improve the economy."
The Virginia governor, who is on Mitt Romney's list of potential vice presidential candidates, added, "By replacing Barack Obama with Mitt Romney, we will not only stop the federal government's healthcare takeover, but will also take a giant step towards a full economic recovery."
Other governors have urged a similar strategy. Scott Walker, the newly re-elected Wisconsin governor, said that he won't put into place any elements of Obamacare until after the election. Other governors are taking a similar position.
That’s a relief...I have a Republican governor.
Bottom Line: Obama LIED, and Freedom DIED!!
Liberty or Death!
Perhaps the WRONG tact.
They SHOULD put into effect and blame the consequences on the author - or adopt statutes of Nullification and make a REAL political issue of it.
Well, some hope then
Thats a relief...I have a Republican governor.
Me too. I hope Louisiana is locked and loaded - I know the Duck Dynasty is!
The GOP is telling all of us to calm down. Then after obama is re-elected or Romney is elected and nothing changes, they’ll tell us all to shut up.
I don’t hold my breath on anything a republican says.
Hey, I’m used to government healthcare. I go to the VA. The rest of you ain’t gonna’ like it.
We have a republican governor and both state houses. Our legislature already passed something saying we are opting out. This thing will sink under its own weight.
I feel the same way I did back when they attacked and took Elian Gonzalez. At what point does it stop? How far do they have to push statism before the frog jumps?
So do I. Sandoval in Nevada.
We’re busy here trying to ensure Senator Heller keeps his seat.
People need to start with their wallets and donate time to GOTV all Conservative House & Senate seats for OPERATION ROADBLOCK.
We will not have another opportunity.
Lucky you. I live in New Jersey. We have a fat-ass, Lou Costello look-a-like f’ing RINO named Chris Christie.
Instead of ignoring lust Obamacare, they should ignore the USSC.
As do I.
I understand that the Republican Governors are upset right now but I can see Obama cutting federal money to the states that ignore Obamacare. I think that is 100 percent fine as long as these Governors can run their states without Federal Funds. This is the tactic that the federal government used to make seat belt laws and (I think) DUI laws.
Oh, it's just another incoming Obama Executive Order.
The focus now is to gain control of the senate and maintain house numbers at minimum, and this will all be moot.
Hey, Im used to government healthcare. I go to the VA. The rest of you aint gonna like it.
I go to the VA all the time and I think that do an incredible job...At least the one in Baltimore is great...I don’t particularly like the drive since I live in Annapolis but other than that it is perfect. People 65 and above are all on “Obamacare” already....it is just not called that.
Lucky you. I live in New Jersey. We have a fat-ass, Lou Costello look-a-like fing RINO named Chris Christie.
I’m sorry. But, it could be worse - you could live in San Francisco;-) Come on now, I know you are smiling.
The states should just not enforce federal tax laws.
“Oh, you have a warrant for federal income tax evasion and you want local support? Sorry, that’s a low priority crime. We’ll get to it when we get to it.
Obama LIED about his eligibility, he LIED about his past, he LIED about no involvement in Fast & Furious, he LIED about not having the authority to implement amnesty then implements amnesty.. LIES LIES LIES.. OBAMA IS LYING PIECE OF SH**.
Well, let me put it this way. Get used to your doctor being from Nigeria and India and Pa-kee-ston.
Hey, I get my medicine for $8 for thirty days but I only see a doctor twice a year. I won’t be seeing my cardiologist again unless I have another heart attack.
If you feel like swapping earthquakes for hurricanes, you’d be welcome here in southern Louisiana :-)
If I understand what I heard earlier, states will have the right to opt out of ObamaCare. (CT will of course embrace it wholeheartedly.) If that is correct, my husband and I will have no choice but to move to a solid Red State by 2014. We'll planning to get out of this leftist hellhole anyway... I think today's ruling just sped up the process for us.
Just remember: when a call came to act, you hung up.
I have Governor Tom Corbett (R-PA)
“I live in New Jersey. We have a fat-ass, Lou Costello look-a-like fing RINO named Chris Christie.”
Wow...you’re an angry person! Besides, I thought Lou Costello was adorable! I have the best childhood memories from laughing at that slapstick comedy.
Anyway...here are Chris Christie’s views on Obamacare:
“New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said he was disappointed.”
“I’ve been clear from the very beginning that I do not believe a one-size-fits-all health care program works for the entire country and that governors should have the ability to make decisions about what works for their states.”
Except that municipal, county and state LE agencies accross the country are hooked on their federal goodies. Apart from a handful of dedicated sheriffs, no body is going to willingly forfeit that.
Another idea. Abondon all blue states. Unfortunately, the Federal government would take your money and give it to the blue states.
My idea was to us the commie subversive trick of overwhelming the system. Everyone sign up for Welfare, regardless of whether you qualify or not, or any other government services. Tie them up in massive red tape. :)
No, they will get beat up by the MSM either way so might as well not implement it. The MSM will never blame Obama. Better to not burden the people. First, do no harm.
I would take Chris Christie in a heartbeat over our vile, union-loving, whiny-voiced Obama lapdog Gov. Dannel Malloy, who was fraudulently elected in 2010 because of a mysterious "bag of votes" - which somehow materialized many hours after the polls had closed.
Thanks to Malloy and our solid deep-blue state legislature, The People's Socialist Republik of Connecticut is now more liberal than Berkeley and San Francisco, CA combined (no lie). There is NO hope here - hubby and I plan to move as soon as we can (no plans yet unfortunately).
At least Christie is a pit bull and has a pair... the GOP overall could use more of that.
Actually, what FDR et al. told the Court was correct. SS is not insurance, it's just a tax. With insurance, you pay the premium, and if you have a claim that satisfies the conditions of the policy, you are entitled to the benefit. While SS has "benefits", nobody is entitled to them — they can be cut any time or denied altogether. Therefore, since it's not insurance, the Court found it constitutional.
Same old same old. Ain't history full of surprises?
I remember that the Obama solicitor never admitted it was a tax after repeated questions by SCOTUS. He must have whispered it to them off mike, or Roberts intentionally misconstrued the intent and meaning behind ObamaCare.
for us too!
No I’m not smiling. Christie has done nothing for my state. I’m a former liberal. I can smell them a mile away and this guys stinks!
Lou Costello drank more than a 16 oz cup of soda and used incondescent lightbulbs.
Probably ate non-organic doughnuts,too.
I have been in a little bit of an absurdist mood lately. :)
Christie is like a choice between Adolph Hitler or Heinrich Himmler. He’s done nothing for my state. He’s all talk.
This report tells us what we all should know— that Romney will do squat on “day one”, but will leave Obamacare institutionalized until which time the congress bothers to get beyond flogging it to death with their endless rhetorical exercises.
There are certainly not enough conservatives elected to reverse anything and we have no clue yet if socialist Republicans will even be in the senate majority after the election.
my friend!! my friend!! LONG time no see!! (((((((((HUGS))))))))))
off topic, How are YOU???
back on topic! I so want out of California!! I'm in tears over this decision and the route our beloved USA has taken...
I remembered otherwise, but you are probably correct. In THAT case, Roberts is a piece of sh!t ACTIVIST judge.. WHEN THE BILL WAS IN CONGRESS, IT WAS PASSED BECAUSE IT WAS ADVERTISED AS NOT BEING A TAX.. IT WAS PASSED UNDER FALSE PRETENSES AND SHOULD BE NULL AND VOID.
I bought a 3/4 ac lot in SC two years ago. I’ve been slowly converting to southern for over 10 years now. :)
Angry? I should be applauded for my restraint. He’s also made clear from the beginning he had no interest in opting out of ObamaCare and this is a man who in his capacity as a federal attorney said ‘’illegal aliens haven’t committed crime’’. My state is over-run with them and now millions more of them have just become eligible for more free health care.
Sometimes one must reflect. This is one of those times and days. My chance to help will come. It is early. If you desire to take my place please do. Maybe you can give me pointers later?
HILARIOUS! Except I’m in NJ as well :(
