"You may have made it out of Egypt, but not yet into The Promised Land."

You have no idea. The 40 years was important, G-d had a special purpose for that, it was not a bad thing. And yes, I have recieved the promise, I have joined with my people at Sinai, heard the voice of G-d and saw no form. I join with my forefathers in their experience at Sinai and judge all potential revelations per Deut 13 and 18. Jesus fails both tests. Were are still in the galut (exile) but we hear the footsteps of mashiach. It wont be long now and when he arrives, his name will not be Jesus or any version of that name...that is a certainty.

It is a Jewish parent’s responsibility to ensure the Jewishness of their children. Conversion occurs in a vacuum.

I don’t believe conversion is anywhere near the threat as intermarriage, lack of education and failure to provide a Jewish home.

I agree with Jewbacca’s take - annoying but sincere.

Many years ago (before 2000 election maybe) I read that someone asked a room full of reporters covering the presidential race - how many of you know someone who is gay. All raised their hands. How many of you know an Evangelical Christian? No one raised their hand.

Therein lies the problem.

Interesting post. Without Evangelicals there would be no State of Israel. Many American Jews are complacent thanks to the blessings of America. Many do not have the welfare of Israel as much of a priority. And even the ones that do still do not feel the existential threats hovering over it. Interestingly, US citizens in Israel voted strongly for McCain over Obama.

One point I never see addressed is that Jews seem to be condemned if they do and condemned if they don’t. This may play into the Jewish liberal vote. I am referring to the charge of dual loyalty. Some liberal Jews like the early Jewish Reform movement may seek to avoid that charge.

One correction, neither David Dinkins nor Andrew Young belong on this list with the likes of Al Sharpton.

“Even the Dali Lama does not have a his usual ‘unity of all religions’ tolerance for Evangelicals.”

How so?

Hi “blaster1960”, I’m back on FR, but quite tired, especially since spending time outdoors in the heat of the mid west. You have brought up interesting topics, but to address them all out of The Bible, I would nearly have to write a book. I will try to address at least some of them at a future time, as right now, it time for me to wind down and get some sleep. Praising The LORD, “bellflower”

This goes back to my days of newspaper clippings before the internet.

The Dali-lama at International meetings of religious bodies was of course gracious and in unity, but he could not control the universal impulse to point out that the Christian right, Evangelicals of America, are out of sinc with ‘spirituality’ and ‘oneness’.

My old clipping was from the 1980s, I haven’t tried yet to search for this stuff on the internet, but if you are dedicated enough to Christian treatment, then I may try to verify my memory with documentation for you.
