Detroit's bus drivers has reportedly asked local lawmakers to put pressure on the transit agency to help stop the spread of bedbugs on buses.
The Detroit News reports that roughly 50 Detroit Department of Transportation (DDOT) drivers have said they've seen bedbugs on buses, and some have been bitten within the past year, according to Henry Gaffney, president of Amalgamated Transit Union Local 26.

Not a big surprise after my recent visit there while crewing for the Indy Car / Grand Am races the first week of June. Everything looked OK on Jefferson Ave between the Marriot (GM) and Belle Island, but get one street off and Yikes!

A friend of mine who lives in town found bedbugs in his house and he’s a regular old clean freak. He took all his washables to a laundromat in another town.
Yeas ago I worked with a guy who moved, sold, or scrapped old mobile homes. The ones he sold went to an empty field he owned for fumigation before going to his sales lot next to his house.
I wasn’t aware that parasites could exist on other parasites...
Leave the buses locked up for a day in this heat. End of problem.
Diatomaceous earth (Shell flour). You don’t want to inhale it due to the silicosis danger but its completely non toxic and appears to work well.
Maybe federal money should go for cattle shutes which would have each mass transit passenger dip before entering at each bus stop. That would resolve the bedbug problem and the not-showering problem often seen on mass transit.

Yup. People ride a city bus to a greyhound terminal and on to the next town. Its how they’ve spread all across the country.
