I'm a Tea Party Nose Holder

By Mr. Curmudgeon

Recently, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that Congress has the power to do just about anything it desires provided it's called a tax. It's hard not to notice that the Progressive march toward totalitarianism in America has a decidedly bipartisan feel. Chief Justice John Roberts, who wrote the high court's majority opinion, is an appointee of "compassionate conservative" George W. Bush.

This ruling positions the Tea Party as the only alternative to our broken two-party system.

At the center of the controversy, stands the individual mandate, which orders every American to participate in government-run health care or face fines or imprisonment.

I know this is an election year, and most Americans are used to pretending that presidential elections highlight the "stark contrasts between the two parties," but the Supreme Court's ObamaCare ruling and the histories of both presidential candidates belay that tired fantasy.

The presidential contest pits the father of the individual mandate against his protege. The father, of course, is Mitt Romney. The Republican faithful counter that Romney and congressional establishment Republicans have pledged to "repeal and replace" Obama and Pelosi's dictatorial abomination. It's the "replace" part of the equation that should give us pause.

That said, I intend to hold my nose and vote for Romney for one reason and one reason only: The Supreme Courts' health care ruling serves as a recruiting tool, adding more Americans to the Tea Party army. If, as in the midterm elections of 2010, Tea Party candidates head to Washington, the Progressive wing of the Republican Party will be hard pressed to ignore their power.

If the high court says Congress has unlimited power to bleed taxpayers dry, the acronym "Taxed-Enough-Already" takes on greater meaning and urgency.

The Tea Party must intensify its crusade to repeal the tenure of big-government politicians in both parties and replace them with small-government constitutionalists.

That requires a greater Tea Party presence in the House and Senate, and that means a Tea Party overthrow of the Progressive wing of the GOP.

This is the year CONSERVATIVES got to get behind the GOP... if we go vote for the 3rd parties — we will lose more!!

This is the year the GOP needs to prove Conservatives deserve their support.

Am I the only one disgusted with the constant fellatio performed by Republican politicians on their Democrat party colleagues across the aisle?

We were stuck with the leader of “The Gang of Eight,” Maverick McCain, during the last election. The only reason I voted for his pathetic butt was his choice of running mate.

If all you are going to do is vote, may the chains of your slavery weigh lightly upon you & may the rest of us forget you were ever our countryman

Maybe he also intends to write strongly worded letters to the editor.

How lucky we are.

We are going to be saved by Captain Courageous, who is going to shoot up the evil people in DC and save us all.

Oh, praise the Lord.

If he gets mad, and I mean “really really” mad, he might even hold his breath until he turns blue!

What would you suggest we do to help the spinegrow? I submit the possibility that these elections will do nothing to help our Republic.

Our government does not fear the governed anymore. Obviously I greatly respect Thomas Jefferson. Please ponder his simple words -

When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.

Do you fear your government?

Do again what the Tea Party did in 2010.

Perhaps if you indulged in an occasional bath you would find it may ease such problems.

The welcome wagon leaves much to be desired.

In a place where trolls do show up, and they tend to be in the same IP blocks, and they insult older members... I've got a record of sniffing out trolls.

Your mileage may vary.

I’d like to see a Tea Party get its whistle wet somewhere smaller first. How about a Big Gulp Tea Party or something like that, in New York City (taking on the ultra RINO Bloomie).

Good for you.

I have no idea what my IP address is. My wireless service through a local cable provider was turned on about a month ago (moved recently). I insult everyone equally without regard to sign up dates.

Substance abuse often results in acute paranoia and hallucinations. Have you been sniffing more than trolls? It would certainly explain your behavior.

Incidently, I've had a pleasant encounter with "Al Baby," and he welcomed me to the website.

Nobody but mods can see IP. JRF is a mod? We never knew.

It’s different on the Canadian version, Free Dominion, which shows the source IP of every post.

Not on a double dog dare. About twice a month I'd have to zot myself.

Anyone can see IPs if they know how. Cooks can do it.

It’s different with me because I’m on double-secret probation. ;-P

I’m gonna give JRF the benefit of the doubt and assume he usually doesn’t act like Niedermeyer and is actually a decent guy.

Recent events have everyone on edge.

Right back at you. A little politeness does go a long way, though.

You are in a forum that has existed for a while, and you ARE the new guy.

But don't let me stop you from slinging abuse to one and all.
