I'm a Tea Party Nose Holder

By Mr. Curmudgeon

Recently, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that Congress has the power to do just about anything it desires provided it's called a tax. It's hard not to notice that the Progressive march toward totalitarianism in America has a decidedly bipartisan feel. Chief Justice John Roberts, who wrote the high court's majority opinion, is an appointee of "compassionate conservative" George W. Bush.

This ruling positions the Tea Party as the only alternative to our broken two-party system.

At the center of the controversy, stands the individual mandate, which orders every American to participate in government-run health care or face fines or imprisonment.

I know this is an election year, and most Americans are used to pretending that presidential elections highlight the "stark contrasts between the two parties," but the Supreme Court's ObamaCare ruling and the histories of both presidential candidates belay that tired fantasy.

The presidential contest pits the father of the individual mandate against his protege. The father, of course, is Mitt Romney. The Republican faithful counter that Romney and congressional establishment Republicans have pledged to "repeal and replace" Obama and Pelosi's dictatorial abomination. It's the "replace" part of the equation that should give us pause.

That said, I intend to hold my nose and vote for Romney for one reason and one reason only: The Supreme Courts' health care ruling serves as a recruiting tool, adding more Americans to the Tea Party army. If, as in the midterm elections of 2010, Tea Party candidates head to Washington, the Progressive wing of the Republican Party will be hard pressed to ignore their power.

If the high court says Congress has unlimited power to bleed taxpayers dry, the acronym "Taxed-Enough-Already" takes on greater meaning and urgency.

The Tea Party must intensify its crusade to repeal the tenure of big-government politicians in both parties and replace them with small-government constitutionalists.

That requires a greater Tea Party presence in the House and Senate, and that means a Tea Party overthrow of the Progressive wing of the GOP.

In a nut shell, last week Barry’s court opened the door to foreign invaders while making sure they had “free” taxpayer funded healthcare when they get here and topped it off by pissing all over veterans. Some “supreme court”. I don’t think the Founding Fathers had this kind of government in mind when they wrote the Constitution. Americans lost big last week.

.... Progressive wing of the GOP.

Haven't heard it called that before, but the shoe fits. Clean house in November .... I think we're going to need a tanker of bleach for the WH (no pun intended).

The government has always, at least since WWI, had the power to bleed the public dry through taxation.

All Roberts did was tell us the way the world really is.

Branding it a tax brings it under the control of the budget process where 51 senators can drive the bus rather than 60.

Another gift from Roberts, whether intentional or the result of the law of unintended consequences, we should take advantage of the gift.

In order to take advantage the GOP would need a couple dozen bottles of Old Spine Grow.

It's too bad the Republicans and the elite bunch of fools did everything to put down Newt. Here was a former speaker that if elected President would have the inside knowledge and the bull dog approach to save America. Romney is a real question and a light weight and we just did not have enough time to train him. But now the question, do we want King Obama or Romney. I have to go Romney because that communists black pig King Obama would further take America down.

Interesting to me, as rank and file UAW, the number of life long democrat union members that have openly stated opposition to another vote for Burlap Insane Obama.

Methinks this election, if it takes place at all, isn't the cake walk democrats would like to think.

About those “foreign invaders”.

How many things have you bought recently, made in America?

Hmm? How many? Does not matter the brand, they are all IMPORTED.

Why is it, nobody is asking that?

Nobody. Why not?

Time to abolish the 16th Amendment to the Constitution.

Amendment 16

Income taxes

The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration.

February 3, 1913.

I oppose your review of the 16th Amendment.

I say, raise taxes on IMPORTS. For anything purchased which is imported.

Anything. Enough screwing around.

Neither. I want an end to the federal experiment. The States set it up, and the States can abolish it.

It is up to us to feed them spine grow.

Many seem to have missed that.

Back in 2010 when my congressman was a candidate he gave a speech and explained that we can't vote for him or anyone else only to walk away and assume they'll do the right thing. He said that we need to hang over their shoulder every single day and make sure they do the right thing. Fortunately I have a good responsive congressman though imperfect and that ain't easy as a freshman.

Unfortunately I see comments to the local paper complaining that he isn't doing anything because he isn't making national news and they aren't seeing fiery speeches. The people on both sides of the aisle are American Idle voters. They don't go out of their way to learn anything unless someone smacks them in the forehead with a mallet.

I’m passing up on the electoral process. We’ll have to wade through rivers of blood to rebuild this society. No other action will take us where we need to go.

You are not going to vote.

You are the problem.

The stupid post of the day.

The election of 2010 shows that our vote counts but no thinking person thought that the 2010 election would cure all of our problems overnight.

We must do it again and again and maybe even again.
