JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Mississippi could soon become the only state without an abortion clinic because of a new law taking effect this weekend. Critics say the law would force women to drive hours across the state line to obtain a constitutionally protected procedure, or could even force some to carry unwanted pregnancies to term.

Thanks Roberts - now MS will be forced to build one! Thanks for having our back Justice Roberts.

There’s a reason why Obama was so desperate to pass it.

Not forced, never forced. They will be taxed into bankruptcy if they choose not to build a new one.

Oh good heavens, a woman actually delivering a beautiful baby..the horror/sarc
There is nothing the left hates more than seeing a pregnant woman..the reason why leftists love abortion so much is because in their twisted little minds, they wish they themselves were aborted

Where do people get off thinking that they have a right to a medical procedure? The choice to perform any procedure should be up to the doctor’s judgement and what that hospital or clinic wishes to offer.

Kind of like women trying to buy a "constitutionally protected" gun in Washington DC.

“...a constitutionally protected procedure”?

No. The SCOTUS ruled that a right to privacy existed under the due process clause of the 14th Amendment. The due process clause states: “...nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law...”

This created from whole cloth the legal idea that privacy equated to either liberty or property. But this extrapolation is neither in the constitution, nor protected by it. It is unique to that decision.

Properly, then: “abortion is ...a SCOTUS legislated procedure.” They may reinterpret day into night in the constitution, but it remains just their fantasy. The constitution remains unchanged.”

Civil Rights are endowed by the creator. Whimsical privileges are created by man, and can be taken away by man.

awesome, maybe there is hope after all for an enclave where real American values can thrive. But for me, I like the weather in Mississippi way better than that of South Dakota

I was going to say the same thing—I believe that the last abortion mill in SD shut down a couple of years ago.

You should understand this does not mean there are zero legal abortions in Mississippi. All it means is there are no clinics that specialize.

Mississippi gets a standing ovation from me. Killing babies is wrong. Period.

A few clinics were shut down here. Now if Planned Barrenhood can join them.

From your homepage...

“Sorry, looks like the translation was screwed up.”

Roger that! lol

Mississippi’s only/last abortion clinic had been hanging by a thread for many years. The docs involved were from out of state.

The legislature passed a law saying that only those abortion clinics that had doctors with hospital privileges would be legal.

The only/last abortion clinic does not qualify.

If there were docs who were eager to perform abortions, I think at least one of them would have jumped in and saved the clinic.

I think that was crafty and creative thinking on the part of the legislature.

We are not going to implement obamacare... neither is Florida or Louisiana or Texas... all contiguous states. Let them try. The Fed cannot take on 26 states and there will be more. Nullification is in the air.

"Eager" to perform abortions? Or just quietly performing abortions without publicity for selected patients?

Sure this is a step in the right direction, but don't make more of it than is there.
