There’s not much difference between gang members and wild animals other than the fact that gang members usually walk upright.

I predict that this math model will be attacked as racist or worse by the liberals.

Why?

Because it is a model used to predict hunting behaviors of animals in the wild. The liberals will be offended that anyone would compare the youth gangs of our cities with pack animals out hunting down their prey.

"You would think that we're more complicated than other animals...."

Why, when we allow such barbarism to go on and on?

Animals will be animals, especially when they run in packs.

They needed a study to tell them this?!? You could have just asked anyone who lives in a gang-infested area, and they could have told you the same thing. Gangs fight other gangs, and they fight over the borders of their territory, duh.

In Humboldt Park in Chicago, for example, the boundary is right down the middle of the park, from north to south. So, that is the last place you want to be, especially after dark, and on hot summer days when the animals get ornery.

Boyle Heights? The hispanic Pacific Palisades LOL. But nevermind, the only thing I;ve learned the hard way is know every screwed up neighborhood in L.A., especially after night time.

I still remembered taking the last bus from Crenshaw Blvd/LAX connection into Hollywood years ago straight from Compton station, right after midnight. One homey (whom by my ebonics translation wanted to bang her on the bus) was yelling at another woman homey, while homey driver was talking to her galpal who at the same time, was sleeping close to the bus driver. It really is a study in society in the wild. I’ve always said the best sociology study is when you take public transit.

Idiots. Killing each other over what they don’t even own. More power to ‘em, as long as they keep it between themselves.

Wow, imagine that!!! Borders are more dangerous. Well, duuuh! It’s all about gaining more territory and beating down whomever pokes his toe across the line in the sand. Hunting grounds, gangs, national borders, war time - it’s been like that since the beginning of time. How many of my tax dollars were wasted on this?

Some math modelers may have been paid precious tax dollars on a government funded gig to do this work, but it takes no great brain to know that most violence and crime between two rival gangs would, naturally, be on the border between their turf - that’s not just human nature, that’s nature.
