If not Mitt....
Andrew McCarthy | Vanity

Posted on 07/01/2012 6:22:21 PM PDT by Wagonboy

Columnist Andrew McCarthy gives us what probably is the most important question regarding the upcoming presidential election now that Mitt has won the GOP race, “…I will enthusiastically support his candidacy. For my friends who have hesitation on that score, I’d just ask you to keep four things in mind: 1.. Justice Scalia just turned 78 2.. Justice Kennedy will turn 78 later this year 3.. Justice Breyer will be 76 in August 4.. Justice Ginsburg just turned 81. We wish them all well, of course, but the brute fact is that whoever we elect as president in November is almost certainly going to choose at least one and maybe more new members of the Supreme Court — in addition to hundreds of other life-tenured federal judges, all of whom will be making momentous decisions about our lives for decades to come. If you don’t think it matters whether the guy making those calls is Mitt Romney or Barack Obama, I think you’re smokin’ something funky ...” So for anybody who is thinking of not voting because your favorite didn’t get nominated, or writing in a candidate who can't win, imagine this: SUPREME COURT JUSTICE ERIC HOLDER or CHUCK SCHUMER or HILLARY CLINTON.

romey believes is the doctrine of preemption. That will be ok for China against you? That will be ok for Iran against Israel? He also is the father of communist health care. He also wears magic underwear. He is losing real bad in Florida, Pennsylvania , Ohio, Wisconsin and he will lose real bad just like McAmnesty because millions of conservatives wont vote for this empty suit. Get use to it. Either get us a candidate we can trust or go to hell.

If the conservatives get a landslide in the election he’d be an idiot not to dance with those who brought him to the dance.

I haven't smoked anything funky since my 20s, and yeah, I don't think it really matters. GOP presidents with better conservative credentials than Romney have given us Earl Warren, Harry Blackmun, William Brennan, Anthony Kennedy, David Souter and now John Roberts. Meanwhile, Democrat SC nominees march in lockstep toward their statist wonderland - I'm still trying to think of one Democrat-nominated SC justice who has departed from the liberal orthodoxy in my lifetime or my parents lifetimes.

Don't worry about the attacks.

There is a coven of troll BO supporters who attack anyone who dares suggest anything but slavish love and adoration for voting for him.

Surely you realize that calling those of us who want to tell the Republican Party Elites "No more of my votes for a RINO" BO supporting trolls means the owner of this site is a troll on his own site.

“He got more votes than the other guys.”

Yes, I’m not a Romney fan by any means, but somehow this point you make seems to be ignored by many people.

If Romney has been “foisted” on us as the nominee he’s been foisted on us by our fellow Republican voters.

Please tell us the procedure for the appointment of the various Judges in Mass.

Let me help. Whomever the Governor nominates must be approved by Judicial Nominating Commission - established by Dukakis in 1975. When Romney was Governor, the Judicial Nominating Commission was made up of 8 democrats and 1 Republican. He was able to appoint a conservative member of the Federalist Society to chair the JNC to try and block activist judges to a higher position than District Court and Clerk Magistrate level appointees.

Romney was Governor in a state with 12% as registered Republicans. The democrats had majorities in both chambers of the Massachusetts legislature.

In Mass., the democrats stack the deck AND mark the cards.

Perhaps it is the Establishment who should have thought through this dilemma, BEFORE Romney.

They funded him, supported him and twisted arms and favors for him and went all subterreanean on everyone else, just dead air silence for any and all conservatives with brains, just to get Romney the socialist at the top of a Republican ticket.

Well. Now they’ve got him and it’s suppose to be on my back to do their sweatshop work to get him elected?

Why should I, the voter, have to feel the heat, their threat really, to pull their sorry fat out of the fire and perpetuate their fraud on the party so they can keep their power?

I pray the convention will knock him out and Americans get a concience or a backbone for once.

No one at FR can answer this:

Who will you write in or support?

Which past GOP nominee did you support?

The lie that keeps on circulating. Go look up the justices dates of birth and come back with their correct ages. Go ahead. I’ll wait.

What is all your sweatflop about? We’re but the 4 percenters—of the four percent who want another candidate and intend to say so loud and clear, no matter the cost.

Speaking for myself, another four of years of Obama might just wake you up, along with that “coven of BO supporters” among the Establishment GOP, who have been purposely hand holding with liberals for decades, running our party into the ground, betraying us, progressively giving us more and more liberal candidates, until finally they have handed us a socialist for the top of your ticket and you’re the one who is going to reward that. LOL! (A pathetic smirk, actually.)

You saw your plantation owners go underground in DC, the Establishment, never a decent word, not a word at all, even a corner of dollar bill offered to anyone, anywhere, who was a conservative contender with chops. They watched us divide and get conquered, one after another, until their FUNDED ONE one was finally able to crush the others, flush with his own cash and theirs, the GOP.

This thing was settled after ‘08 when the McCain/Palin ticket hit the dirt, to become Romney’s “turn”.

So YOU go enable all that Alinsky crap perpetrated on you by your own party with your vote, but expecting lemonade in exchange for your buy off by fear misses the only hope of a path to recovery.

Destroying the Establishment socialists in the Republican Party is the only road to even a chance for taking out a Marxist who is imbedded, and Marxism, which is now institutionalized. The Republicans have facilitated this Obama take over with McCain in the first place, on purpose.

You will not resist. You will not rebel. You extract no price whatsoever for what they’ve done, but will reward them, and You certainly guarantee worse for all of us in the future for your lack of courage and push back.

Purging your conscience by bashing those who will stand and deliver says more about you than us four percenters. Heck, you’re in the majority among Republicans.

How in the hell do you think the Republican Party got us in this shape without you 96%?

the establishment GOP might take heart and nominate Lincoln Chafee or Olympia Snowe next time.

And it's unlikely either of those two would get any votes in the primaries. We had a very lively primary this time around. The only people who chose Mitt were the ones who voted for him in the primaries. Maybe we can convince fewer conservatives to run in the next primary, but it's unlikely.

The Party didn't choose Romney, he just happened to be the one who received the most votes of any ONE of the candidates in the primary. He wasn't my first choice, but I WILL vote for him in November, because on Inauguration Day in Jan of 2013, I don't want it to be Obama being sworn in for a second term. That would be disastrous for this country.

Looking through this Thread it appears that many Posting here think we are at the beginning of the Primary Elections instead of the end.

Who are the TWO guys running for President again?

Let's see, in one corner we have Obama, a man that HATES everything we as Conservatives stand for. A man that is getting away with tearing the Constitution to shreds and who will look upon his Reelection as a permission slip to push the envelope of Statism.

Like the Terminator, he never rests from his mission. It may look like he does, but looks are deceiving. He has a Legion of Sycophants doing his dirty work, throughout his Administration, in the Legislature, in the Press and even in the Supreme Court.

In the other corner, we have the presumptive Republican Nominee. He isn't the guy that FReepers wanted to win, but the Republican Voters have spoken. We obviously weren't up to the job of convincing enough people to Vote for our Candidates of choice, so here we are infighting about something that has already been decided.

The Primaries are over. Let me repeat, the Primaries are over. You support the Republican or you support the other guy by default. There is no third choice, it is an illusion.

Cry, bitch and moan about Romney? I assure you that crying, bitching and moaning will be the least of your problems if Obama gets another four years.

I'm not posting this to piss off people. Strike that. If we have that Commie SOB to deal with until January 2016, God Forbid, you will all be a lot more pissed off than you are reading this tirade from little old me.

That's it, I'm done with this crap. We will see which side pulls off a win, if you can call it that, in November, No more Posting about this anymore. It's a waste of time. You folks tear each other up. I'll just post about Cars, Dogs and Kittens for the time being if I'm in the mood.

Goodnight and good luck, we'll all need it one way or the other. I wish everyone of you well and I apologize if my rant stepped on some toes. It seems we are preaching to the Choir in a Church full of empty Pews. God help our Nation.

For the sake of the next generation, we must rally around Romney.

I have heard this same cr@p line for the last 60 years, yet here we are on the precipice of destruction.

I voted for Palin last time I will vote for her again this time, God willing.

“Always vote for principle, though you may vote alone, and you may cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost.”

-- John Quincy Adams

"Let each citizen remember at the moment he is offering his vote that he is not making a present or a compliment to please an individual--or at least that he ought not so to do; but that he is executing one of the most solemn trusts in human society for which he is accountable to God and his country."

-- Samuel Adams

‘Unless we stop the trend’
And how do you stop the trend?
By leaving obozo and gang in power for 4 more years to teach the GOP a lesson?
No matter what, obozo must go!

Romney is an American, obozo is not!
Romney will not have any czars and EPA kind of agencies! Obozo - full of them
Romney is not at liberty to veto a conservative congress’s legislation, obozo will always do so!
Romney probably wants to go down in history as the president who saves the Republic. We can nudge him in that direction; obozo has his own direction......

Instead of taking the better of the 2 and mold him, you would rather leave the devil there to complete the destruction - some kind of trend you will be setting!

You refuse to vote for McCain, so obozo comes in.
You refuse to vote for Romney, so obozo stays.
You have nothing but obozo from now on - that is the trend you want?
