Romney adviser: Health care not a tax ("Etch a Sketch" Adviser is back)
Washington Times ^ | 07/02/2012 | David Sherfinski

While Congressional Republicans have seized on the Supreme Court’s ruling that President Obama’s health care overhaul is constitutional as a tax, presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s top campaign strategist undercut that line of argument Monday, saying that the governor agrees with Mr. Obama that the law is not a tax.

“The governor has consistently described the mandate in Massachusetts as a penalty,” Eric Fehrnstrom, Mr. Romney’s strategist, said on MSNBC. “The governor disagreed with the ruling of the court; he agreed with the dissent that was written by Justice Scalia, which clearly states the mandate was not a tax.”

Romney should not waste even a NY Minute to send in TRUMP to do the honors right into this guy’s face.

What does one expect for the GOP lemmings nominating the man behind RomneyCare and the grandfather of ObamaCare?

Taxes use to be for things you did, like a pistol at a holdup, now thanks to Roberts its also for things that you don’t do, like a shotgun. Romney needs to say, “ Tomorrow, Republicans in Congress will pass a law which says that NO PERSON WILL BE TAXED FOR THINGS HE DOESN’T DO.”

but I bet you $10,000 that my Legions can
fool anyone and sell me as a “conservative” anytime
enough money flows.”

Obviously this isn’t so simple. If you side with Scalia and the dissent, it isn’t a tax.

That makes it unconstitutional. However, politically it works best to say it’s been declared a tax. But if you do that it’s also constitutional according to most people.

Which makes Roberts’ decision odd, assuming he actually knows anything about the constitution, which I am sure he does.

In a just world, after BO wins re-election over the feckless Mitt and his ilk, BO will tax the likes of Bill Kristol, Fred Barnes and Charles Krauthammer down to their last thin dime.

They will have richly deserved it after foisting another flop of a candidate on the GOP.

Assessed by the Federal government.

Punitive action if not paid.

Whether you actually use the service or not, you are still held liable, once the assessment is made.

Regardless of how capricious the assignment of an assessment may be, until repealed, the payment demanded remains an enforcable lien in the eyes of the law.

Has all the characteristics of a tax - If it looks like one, walks like one, quacks like one, must be one.

Just like the famous definition of a duck.

One tiny silver lining in the SCOTUS decision was deeming it a tax. A golden Hammer for Romney to beat Obama about the head and neck daily until electiopn day and the feckless pussy puts it back on the shelf and calls a truce.

Why do we even try with milquetoast gutless weasels running the damned show?

Just like McLame, his prize was the nomination - NOT the election.

Just like McLame, he will find a way to blow it so he doesn’t have to make the decisions.

Just like McLame, he will blame the Conservatives who didn’t hold their collective noses and vote for him.

And the Conservatives will shake their collective heads and vow to do better next time. When the Republicrats offer up a Bush or some other RINO.

So, because Romney called it a “penalty” in Mass. to avoid saying “tax” when he did it there, he has to stick with “penalty” now so his past doesn’t get sullied with “tax”.

He says “repeal and replace” with Obamacaretax. “Replace” is the operative word. It will be Romenycaretax when this is over. He will always be Hussein Lite if he stops at “Lite”.

These Obama Butt suckers can call it anything they like.

IT”S MONEY COMING OUT OF MY POCKET>———Money that I cannot purchase a new car with—Money I cannot buy food with or pay my electric bill with.
I dont care if you call it a tax, a bill, or a friggin theft, it’s money coming out of our pockets and it isn’t going to help the economy, It is going to hurt the economy, just like everything else Obama and the Democrats have done in the last 4 years.

If he says it’s a tax, then he’s agreing with the SCOTUS liberals.

If he says it’s a penalty, then he’s agreeing with Scalia, Thomas and Alito.

What do you prefer? Either way he’s gonna catch heat for it on this website as we bicker and Obama backs in to another 4 years.

I realize facts have little place in an emotional argument but, the fact is that a mandate with attached penalty is not unconstitutional at the state level. It is at the federal level. His agreement with the dissent is not at all inconsistent with his action in Massachusetts. There are many programs acceptable at the state level that are not permissible at the national level.

Here’s the deal... if it’s not a tax then it has to be under the Commerce Clause which the majority of the court said was unconstitutional. That’s what he’s trying to say. The one thing it cannot be is not a tax and constitutional as a tax. It cannot “be” and “not be” simultaneously.

Thanks for the beautiful pictures. Seeing them them repeated again and again does not persuade me against Romney, but rather remind me of the early history of our country when George Washington was an aide to a British General and a leader of American forces fighting with the British Army. I suppose if someone had displayed a photo of him advising and assisting General Edward Braddock he would have later been disqualified for consideration as leader of American forces against the British. We have choices to make and at this moment in history we are still free to make them.
