A tea party battle cry
Daily Caller ^ | 07/01/2012 | Yates Walker

Some pundits are drawing comparisons between our current political climate and that of America just before the civil war. They’re wrong.

This isn’t 1859. It’s 1775.

A government is a reflection of its people. At the founding, Americans saw freedom as a birthright. To protect that freedom, they designed an accountable government tethered by negative rights and constrained by competing powers. For the past century, Americans have been surrendering, little by little, their freedom for a little promised comfort. A century from now, the emergence of the tea party movement will be seen as one of two things: the death throes of liberty or the moment when Americans began to remember who they were.

If Obamacare is implemented in a second Obama administration, America will never recover. Once an entitlement is granted, it’s impossible to take away. By 2016, the word “repeal” will be considered politically toxic. Some insufferable moderate Republican of the future will label our current insufferable moderates as “right-wing.” Somehow the new normal is always to the left of where we were yesterday.

So what happens?

Two American versions of socialized medicine already exist. We can take a peek into our future by looking at the Veterans Administration and Indian reservations. Despite wonderful, faithful volunteers, the VA is forever undermanned and underfunded. Soldiers get worse waiting in long lines for essential surgery and treatment. Every few years, Americans are horrified by stories revealing how poorly we treat our vets. As for our Native American friends, they have a saying on the reservation that encapsulates their dilemma: Don’t get sick after June.

When a rat swears to support and defend the Constitution, he lies.

When a pubbie swears to support and defend the Constitution, he doesn't mean it.

In some ways, it’s July 16, 1936 and we’re in Madrid.

Once an entitlement is granted, it’s impossible to take away.

The statement is untrue. However, that's not necessarily the best of news. If an entitlement bankrupts a country or an empire, it takes itself away.

I was just thinking the same thing. European countries are crying “uncle” as we speak because they can no longer fund their socialized system. Whether it’s an internal collapse of the system, bankruptcy of a country, or gets “removed”, eventually the system is no more. We’ll see if the many states opting out of this monster can kill it early or if it will take a revolution to do so. Praying it can remain bloodless, but that remains to be seen.

1859 or 1775? It'll be CW2 either way.

I think that Roberts' decision will be seen as similar to the enabling acts in Germany. Roberts' decision is, in effect, the

Enabling Tyranny Act.

I never thought I’d be looking at the end, but here it is.....

A lot of people are looking at what is going on as "business as usual", as they ignore the gathering storm.

This may or may not be the "end", but nonetheless, one can see it clearly now from this point in history and it is a lot closer today than it was at this time last week.

There was a book I read and chuckled about many years ago titled Will the Soviet Union Survive Until 1984 (by Andrei Amalrik). It seemed a pretty impossible theory when I read it back in the 1970s. The USSR was riding high in those years and if anything, we were the ones who might not survive until 1984. Nobody is laughing now at Amalrik's thesis, and they weren't any more in 1991, either.

There is a sobering history lesson therein. We would be well advised to heed those rumbles of thunder on the horizon.

In December of 1773 the participants of the Boston Tea Party dressed as American Indians.

The RNC had better hammer this until the elections. If this continues much further the people have nothing left to lose.

1. INCOME: The federal government has claimed the right to take 100% of our incomes through the income tax.

2. PROPERTY: The federal government has claimed it can take our properties through eminent domain to sell for government profit. (Kelo v. City of New London, 545 U.S. 469 (2005)

3. MONEY/WEALTH: The federal government has claimed it can take whatever we have left in our pockets as a tax with this latest decision.

Therefore: You can earn nothing, possess nothing, and have nothing if the federal government calls it a tax.

What’s left to do but dissolve the federal government?

I am the newest Freeper in that I am now registered for approximately 10 minutes, but I have an observation that I think might qualify as “from the mouth of babes” wisdom.

It is obvious that posters on FR are very familiar with the problems with Obamacare and the dangers that it poses, but I am not so sure that the rest of the electorate is up to speed. We are going to need a conservative leader who can lead the charge for repeal. Mitt Romney, as the author of Romneycare- the Obamacare prototype- is the only Republican alive who has no credibility on this issue. He is a weak candidate in many ways but very weak on this issue, which has become a primary issue in the upcoming election.

Given that the GOP Convention has not yet been held, and Romney is particularly exposed on this issue (and recent events have demonstrated weakness on immigration as well), should we not rally a challenge to Romney at the Convention?

I suggest that we have a rapid, on-line convention to choose a candidate. Palin seems obvious. (I have noticed a softening of some toward Palin and where she was once seen as a punchline, everytime I see her recently, she is being asked for her opinion as a seasoned politician and pundit.) Take the name to the floor (Palin or other if anyone has suggestions) and challenge the candidate on the floor of the convention.

If Romney survives the challenge, fine, hold noses and vote for him, and let the chips lie where they may, just as we had all intended. But shouldn’t we give this a go? The convention is not for several weeks. This might work.
