Conservative Wonderboy Grows Up, Embraces Obamacare and Philosophy
Atlantic Wire ^ | 7/3.12 | Elspeth Reeve

Like so many teenagers, Jonathan Krohn says he cringes when he thinks of some of the deeply uncool things he said when he was 13. Unlike most teenagers, Krohn said those things on camera in a speech at the 2009 Conservative Political Action Conference, making him a YouTube sensation. Now? Krohn tells Politico's Patrick Gavin he's not a conservative anymore. He likes gay marriage and Obamacare.

Without a doubt, the White House and MSM operatives must have had some dirt on this Krohn kid. Not sure what it could be, but he is in fear and in retreat.

Nah, he’s an early careerist. He sees the way the wind is blowing and it’s blowing against conservatives.

And remember: there’s nothing more conformist than a teenager.

So glad to know he now is pro-sodomite and socialist. An education wasted on a punk.

No biggie...there are more people who turn conservative from liberal than vice-versa.

Most every teenager rebells and acts out against their parents.

Nothing more, nothing less.

Once he has to earn a living and pay his own bills & taxes, he'll come back around.

All he had to do is remain in public school, how can most kids resist the indoctrination and the “peer pressure” coordinated by the adults to conform? Parents usually don’t stand a chance against this weight, it’s rare parents and rare children who have the sense of self to resist. Was this kid a public school case?

What kind of moron puts a child on stage just because he happens to be saying what we want to hear at a given moment?

Some people have the advantage of smart parents and peers and may display wisdom beyond their years in their early teens.

Many of those same kids lack the genuine wisdom to realize what a blessing they were given and instead choose to conform to the idiocy of their peers and second rate teachers and professors who fill their heads with mush.

Krohn has chosen to discard his blessings and take the fork down the low road. Maybe he will find his way back after his brain is sufficiently scrambled from drugs and promiscuous sex.

The kid effectively said, “Read my lips, no new taxes.”

Just as the the Rats did everything in their power to make George H.W. Bush raise taxes after that campaign promise, the Lefties probably did everything in their power to turn the kid to support their cause. I’ll bet he is being paid handsomely by the Left for his efforts.

He was being home-schooled when he gave his speech. Earlier he went to a religious school. I don't know what his situation is now.

Young people are bound to go through a lot of changes before they reach adulthood. At some point they decide they're missing out on something, so they go in another direction. It takes a while before they figure out who they are and what they want to be.

It was a mistake to make Jonathan something more than a ordinary 14 year old. But probably not that much of a mistake. He had his moment 3 years back and afterwards he was pretty much forgotten. He has another moment today, and then he goes back to being an ordinary 17 year old.

"I started getting into philosophy — Nietzsche, Wittgenstein, Kant and lots of other German philosophers.

Kant and the German idealists is a first step to rejection of both reality as knowable and objective principles of reason, which leads altruism and collectivism, which leads to the statism and socialism of libtards.

I wonder if his parents are getting a divorce. When that happens a lot of things fall by the wayside, both for the parents and the children.

Also wondering if this isn't a very Atlanta, GA story: people who were quite conservative where they came from finding themselves liberal by rural Georgia standards.

He’s 17.

At 13, I considered myself a Democrat but wasn't interested in politics--the realm of stuffed shirts and smoke-filled rooms, as I saw it. But the Cold War, the "Tet Offensive" and the Pueblo incident woke me up, and two and a half months before I turned 17, I declared myself a Republican.

I started getting into philosophy — Nietzsche, Wittgenstein, Kant and lots of other German philosophers.

If he likes to read German philosophers, he ought to read Wilhelm Röpke, Walter Eucken, Franz Böhm, and Alexander Rüstow, and some Austrian philosophers such as Ludwig von Mises.

At 8 years old the first political though I remember was that Carter MUST lose.

Then came Reagan...I was in heaven....after Reagan not so much with Bush 1, Dole, Bush 2, McCain (are you kidding me???) and now Romney.

I never though Reagan would be once in a lifetime choice.

This is true. It seems they almost feel obligated to repudiate anything they said as a child when they're in the spotlight, as if it's the only way to show their "growth".

As with so many other things, our ancestors had a point when they decreed that children should be seen and not heard. They weren't stupid, they were trying to save us from our own naivete.and even at that they weren't dealing with the leftist anti-white indoctrination which children are now being brainwashed with in government schools.
